FOX News Insults Canadian Military
Compounding insult with stupidity, the panel at the Red Eye show has decided that the Canadian military is lazy for wanting to step back from Afghanistan for one year to regroup their troops and equipment. There is zero recognition for the sacrifices that the Canadian military and their families have made in helping the US. No recognition for the Canadian lives lost in helping the US. It would be asking too much for the Fox knuckleheads to even know or care that Canada has stood by the US in both WWI and WWII.
This is not a FOX version of SNL this is what FOX considers a news panel show. This insult aired on March 17
Gutfeld, the leader of the empty head gang, opened the show in typical Fox fashion of insult. Gutfeld took aim not only the Canadian soldiers but Canada’s Lieutenant-General Andrew Brooke Leslie
- “The Canadian military wants to take a breather to do some yoga, paint landscapes, run on the beach in gorgeous white Capri pants,” he said.
- “Isn’t this the perfect time to invade this ridiculous country? They have no army!”
One of the Red Eye brainiacs Doug Benson stated:
- “I didn’t even know they were in the war.”
Their trophy blond, Monica, tried to be the smartest of the bunch but failed. That wasn’t hard with these clowns.
- “Alaska Governor Sarah Palin should be the most concerned about this because her state stands between Canada and Russia. “The Canadians are just basically telling the Russians to come on over.”
Another stellar panelist Bill Schulz, made these brilliant assessment:
- “Americans shouldn’t be surprised with all this since police officers in Canada don’t drive cars.”
- “We have police officers and they have Mounties,” says Schultz. “Our cops ride heavily armored cars, they ride horses… This is not a smart culture.”
How to lose friends and alienate countries
Canada was not going to let Fox get away with their crap like Americans do. Now for the response from Canada’s Defense Minister Peter McKay
- “There should be an apology to the families in particular and to the Canadian Forces and to Canada generally, given the sacrifice and the commitment that we have demonstrated in Afghanistan.”
- “It is crass. It is insensitive and it is in fact disgusting given the timing where Canada is just receiving back four fallen heroes.”
Canada’s Response
Fox news has apologized but it took them 6 freaking days!

I don’t know what to say. Canadians are being KILLED to protect this idiot’s FREEDOM on the day he is insulting us. I think he should come up and face the families of the Canadian soldiers killed protecting his freedon of speech and tell them what a joke their dead are. HAHAHA.
Oh, by the way, what’s HIS military record?
I thought so.

My feeling is that Gutfeld and the guests on his show that night are no longer welcome on Canadian soil. One of those hacks was a comedian who was supposed to do a show in Edmonton in the following days and it was cancelled due to threats against him. I don’t advocate violence in this case (but if I saw any of these dudes…) but I do advocate the following phrase to our Canadian government: Persona Non Grata. Persons not welcome.
You don’t get to come here, you don’t get to make money here, you don’t get to breathe our air.

Keep these four American idiots off Canadian soil. They do not deserve the opportunity of coming to see our beautiful land or the courtesy provided to all visitors, until they do some research about our country and know about the brave and proud people who live here.

Like many Americans, I believe that all of Fox News should be kept off every countries soil including the U.S.
Fox News is the gathering place for the uneducated.
Of course this doesn’t count the 21% who love Fox and thought Bush was doing a great job.
BTW:Thank you for the sacrifices your country, your soldiers and their families have made.

When considering if one is insulted it is always good to ‘consider the source’. Fox ? Idiocy is S.O.P.
I’ve been appalled on comments threads where people have no regard for the military whatsoever. People who put their asses on the line deserve better – and better than to be wasted in pushing the agenda of the empire. They and we can do better – and I haven’t seen a clip like this from Fargo ND http://www.cbc.ca/canada/manitoba/story/2009/03/26/mb-flood-military.html?ref=rss

I’m all for FOX News staff invading Canada…while the Canadian soldiers are mopping the floor with Faux-news anchors, I’m sure the station will give us a “fair and balanced” look at how their cable network is winning the War for Canadian Freedom.

As a Canadian, I find your lame duck apology for your despicable comments on Canada ’s military to be totally inadequate. Perhaps you and your ignorant, redneck audience would find the following to be just as humorous should you care to share it with them, which I don’t imagine you will.
Your comments and those of your “commentators” were not only an insult to the men and women of the Canadian armed forces but also demonstrate once again the appalling arrogance and ignorance of Americans such as yourself. Let’s take a quick look at American military prowess as seen from a non-American standpoint.
Invade Canada because they have no army? You tried that back in 1812 and got your American butts kicked. The only significant battle that US forces won in that war was the Battle of New Orleans which was actually fought several weeks after a peace treaty had been signed in Europe . And even in this battle, your Old Hickory (was that a reference to his head) depended on the support of a French pirate and his men who betrayed the British. How’s that for an amusing play on Andy’s nickname?
Actually, when it comes to winning wars on your own, the only one you can lay claim to is your Civil War, which Americans of one side or the other pretty well had to win, didn’t they? In the Revolutionary War you had the French to help you. In the Spanish American War, you had the local indigenous populations to help you. Are you finding this amusing?
You largely took a pass on World War One until it was three quarters over and then sent only a token force most of whom saw no action before the spring of 1918. Canada, by contrast put 10% of its entire population in uniform and these men were invariably given the most difficult objectives which they always achieved, unfortunately with the loss of a full 10% of its force – that’s killed, not just wounded. And who were your great heroes? Eddie Rickenbacher who managed to shoot down a total of 26 enemy aircraft in about the same amount of time that the Canadian ace, Billy Bishop, shot down 72. Where did your guys learn to fly? Then there was that hillbilly hick from Bear Creek Hollow, Tennessee named Alvin York. What the hell kind of name is that for a soldier? Alvin ’s a bloody chipmunk’s name! Am I being funny yet?
Of course in World War Two you Americans jumped in when it had only been going on for two years and a quarter years, but you made up for it by taking all the credit. Again, it was mainly the Canadian forces who took the brunt and who were given the toughest assignments in areas like the Italian campaign and at Normandy . Why do we never hear anything from Hollywood about what the Canadians achieved at Juno Beach , generally regarded by most historians, other than Americans, as a tougher objective than Utah or even Omaha Beaches ? Why don’t you American know that the Canadian Division was held back from entering Rome on June 6, 1944 so that Georgie Patton’s ego could be satisfied, his ego and propensity for slapping Privates being his two most outstanding leadership qualities. Are you bozos laughing now? “But we Americans won the War in the Pacific,” I hear you saying. Yes, after the Australians and Chindits showed you how to defeat the Japanese at jungle warfare.
Unfortunately, those lessons in jungle warfare seemed to have been forgotten by the time you got to Vietnam where about the only things American troops did were drugs and young Vietnamese women. Isn’t this just hilarious?
And now you’re going to send an additional 17,000 troops to Afghanistan where, given your extremely limited success in Iraq (another war you don’t seem to be capable of winning), it’s just possible that the Canadian and other lesser UN forces there may feel they would be better off without. You Americans are just a laugh a minute! No wonder the rest of the world loves you so much!

Mr Canada
From another Canuck : Chill, dude. These guys are not the asshats. Fox news is called Faux News for the best of reasons ; i.e. they would screw up the Lord’s Prayer. The worst part ? It would be deliberate rabble rousing just as much as some dumb kid practicing farts in a crowd.
One of the best pieces I ever saw was a montage of their headlines with the articles they ‘covered’ : ridicule could not match the simple revelation of their own lies. That is lost unhappily : a victim of whatever caused the loss of ‘Welcome to Pottersville’.

What I find sad is how these mental deficits dishonoured the American forces too. I have known a few vets from both sides of our border and they have nothing but respect for each other. Maybe the 4 panelists should spend about1 week “embedded” with both some American troops and Canadian. I have quite a few friends and relatives in America who would just love to spend some time tuning up these “news panelists” I agree with a comment I read on another post, these 4 crackers should not be allowed on Canadian soil. For their own safety, because, believe it or not we have a few red-necked, good old boys that would take personal offense to their stupidity.Never one to advocate violence or even squash a persons right to vote an opinion but the amount of disrespect they showed was beyond anything approaching common sense. I hope some upper echelon American military official will make some sort of comment soon.

I happened on an update notice which I don’t see on the thread. I have posted since about Welcome to Pottersville, however. A search turned up info on a lawsuit which attacked ‘Welcome to Pottersville’ on grounds of content ownership spurring a DCMA takedown. I notice ‘No Quarter’ did the same.
