Obama, Like Bush, Seeks To Delay Rove’s Testimony
Like Bush, Obama is meddling with the operations of the Justice Department. According to McClatchy Washington Bureau;
“the Obama administration is asking for two more weeks to weigh in on whether former Bush White House officials must testify before Congress about the firings of nine U.S. attorneys.”
Michael Hertz, the acting assistant attorney general, said in a court brief released Monday that negotiations were ongoing.
“The inauguration of a new president has altered the dynamics of this case and created new opportunities for compromise rather than litigation,” Hertz wrote in the brief dated Friday. “At the same time, there is now an additional interested party — the former president — whose views should be considered.”
Weigh in on what? Whether Karl Rove broke the law? Whether Karl Rove is above the law and can snub a Congressional subpoena? Whether George Bush is still in power and is calling the shots? Give me a freaking break. Bush’s views should be considered; we listened to that empty head for eight years and there were no pearls of wisdom.
Compromise rather than litigation….priceless. If Rove gets special treatment on a compromise instead of litigation, than that should be a right for every American. When was the last time someone was offered a compromise instead of litigation or prosecution for pot charges?
Conyers, who is not giving up, sent Rove’s attorney a letter, according to the Washington Post
“I believe that continued defiance of the subpoena is even less tenable in light of the fact that Mr. Rove is now the former adviser to a former president,” Conyers wrote yesterday in a letter to Rove’s attorney, Robert D. Luskin.
Luskin replied that he and Rove are awaiting advice from White House counsel Gregory B. Craig about whether Obama would back the executive privilege assertion by his predecessor.
White House counsel Gregory B. Craig, about whether Obama would back the executive privilege assertion by his predecessor.
“The president is very sympathetic to those who want to find out what happened,” Craig said in a statement yesterday. “But he is also mindful as president of the United States not to do anything that would undermine or weaken the institution of the presidency. So, for that reason, he is urging both sides of this to settle.”
Obama is concerned about weakening the institution of the presidency? Bush already did that by disgracing the office. Obama should be concerned about up holding the law, and the oath he took on Jan. 20th. Obama should be interested in getting his nose out of the Justice Department. After all, Eric Holder told Congress he would be independent from the Executive Branch.
Bravo for transparency and changing the way Washington works.

Yes, this is yet another example of the failures of the new admin. They are simply so tied to the neolib/neocon agenda. They have no choice but to defend the criminals of the last admin who are tied to that same disaster agenda. If laBUSHanostra is punished, then questions will be asked as laBAMAnostra does exactly the same things g’dubya and his crime family did!
