More Terror Unfolds Mumbai – No Demands Yet
Brits and Americans being hunted for sport! Death toll mounts. More people are looking to Obama with hopeful responses. Obama’s hands are tied until January 20 next year. He is sending representatives already, but cannot say or do anything until he is sworn in. At least he is doing what he can behind the scenes. “President-elect” Barack Obama spoke Thursday by telephone with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and received several intelligence briefings. Rice has called Obama twice since the attacks on Mumbai began. It is very curious that NO official demands have been made by the attackers, this would suggest that this was a planned event exclusively for the purpose of mayhem and destruction targeting Americans, Britains and Jews. These are crimes! These are CRIMINAL MERCENARIES, not to be elevated to the ranks of politically motivated terrorists.
As if the challenge facing President-elect Barack Obama of stabilising Afghanistan was not difficult enough, it may have just got much, much harder after the Mumbai attacks soured relations between India and Pakistan — undermining hopes of finding a regional solution to the Afghan war.
Indian commandos are airdropped in Nariman House, where the armed militants are believed to be holed out.

More than 150 killed Early on Friday night, Indian commandos emerged from a besieged Jewish center with rifles raised in an apparent sign of victory after a daylong siege that saw a team rappel from helicopters and a series of explosions and fire rock the building and blow gaping holes in the wall.
Inside, though, were five dead hostages.
A delegation from Israel’s ZAKA emergency medical services unit entered the building after the raid and reported through an Indian aide that five hostages and two gunmen were dead, a ZAKA
spokesman in Israel said. The spokesman had no information on the hostages’ identities or whether there were wounded inside.
Mumbai, Nov 28 (IANS) Here is a compilation of remarks by political leaders and others on the terrorist strikes in Mumbai and the commando operation to counter them and free hostages:
Jewish law requires the burial of a dead person’s entire body, and the mission of the ultra-Orthodox ZAKA volunteers is to rescue the living – and in the case of the dead, carry out the task of gathering up all collectible pieces of flesh and blood.
ISI chief to visit India over attacks “Initially, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh made a request to our prime minister that he should send the ISI chief to India to help in ongoing investigations and further intelligence sharing,” he said.
“The prime minister of Pakistan responded positively and said both governments need to work out modalities for the early arrival of the ISI chief in India,” Bashir added.
Pakistan denies involvement in Mumbai attacks ISLAMABAD (AFP) — Pakistan struck a conciliatory tone Friday and denied accusations of involvement in the Mumbai attacks, while Pakistani press warned India to stop pointing the finger of blame across the border.

Were any Brits involved? We’re trying to harden up reports on several news agencies that seven of the gunmen may have been British. Other reports suggest they came from Leeds, but there is absolutely no official verification.

Mumbai Terrorists Mimicking Al Qaeda Tactics
Mumbai attacks are everybody’s problem The Indian government has been quick to blame the violence on foreign operatives, and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh ominously warned his country would not tolerate neighbours who provide safe haven to those committing atrocities on Indian soil. This was clear reference to Pakistan, which has become a staging ground for terrorist groups targeting India.
There’s no denying that. But a bigger concern for India is that the jihadi movement may be succeeding in putting down local roots. There are indications the killers in this case are Indian-born, although they may still be foreign-trained, armed and inspired.
Their purpose may be to provoke an anti-Muslim backlash in India, which is prone to sectarian violence, which in turn would help radicalize a small part of India’s huge 140-million-strong Muslim population. So far, Indian Muslims have not flocked to the jihadi cause and few have shown up on international battlefields like Afghanistan, as opposed to other foreign fighters like Chechens or Saudis.
Although India has been on the front line of Islamist terrorism for quite some time, more so than any Western democracy, it is ill-prepared to counter a home-grown terror threat. Its police forces are unco-ordinated, inefficient and often corrupt.
But this is not just India’s problem. It’s everybody’s problem.
