McCain Team Attack Gwen IfIll On VP Debate
Ms. Ifill’s book “The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama“, which is due to be published on January 20, 2009, draws on her interviews with Colin Powell, Jessie Jackson, Sen. Obama and other African American politicians. Apparently, team McCain has a problem with the Obama part. I don’t think they are complaining about the Powell chapter, after all, he served in a Republican administration.
- Ifill said Wednesday that she hasn’t even written her chapter on Obama for the book “The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama,” which is to be published by Doubleday on Jan. 20, 2009, the day a new president is inaugurated.
- “I’ve got a pretty long track record covering politics and news, so I’m not particularly worried that one-day blog chatter is going to destroy my reputation,” Ifill said. “The proof is in the pudding. They can watch the debate tomorrow night and make their own decisions about whether or not I’ve done my job.
Team McCain, nervous about Biden who is strong on foreign policy, sent out adviser Nancy Pfotenhauer to lay the ground work with this statement
“I think the moderator will have some…some serious questions to answer themselves if they do do go so heavily foreign policy.“
Interesting statement for Pfotenhauer to make, considering McCain told NPR that he has consulted Palin on foreign policy. Obviously, McCain thinks Palin is a mental giant, but his team thinks she is a mental midget.
McCain NPR interview with Steve Inskeep; October 1, 2008
Inskeep: Given what you’ve said, senator, is there an occasion where you could imagine turning to Gov. Palin for advice in a foreign policy crisis?
McCain: I’ve turned to her advice many times in the past. I can’t imagine turning to Sen. Obama or Sen. Biden, because they’ve been wrong. They were wrong about Iraq, they were wrong about Russia. Sen. Biden wanted to divide Iraq into three different countries. He voted against the first Gulf War. Sen. Obama has no experience whatsoever and has been wrong in the issues that he’s been involved in.
Inskeep: But would you turn to Gov. Palin?
McCain: I certainly wouldn’t turn to them, and I already have turned to Gov. Palin, particularly on energy issues, and I’ve appreciated her background and knowledge on that and many other issues.
Inskeep: Does her energy qualification extend to the international energy market?
McCain: Of course, that’s what it’s all about. It extends to a broad variety of issues, from her world view of the threats that we face of radical Islamic extremism, to specific areas of the world. I’m very proud of her, and proud of the knowledge and background that she has.
McCain’s team of Karl Rove proteges can not escape the fact that Sarah Palin is an educational light weight, they will certainly spin Palin’s poor performance as “Gwen Ifill’s fault.” How Bush, to blame your shortcomings on someone else.
