PUMAs Will Jump On This – Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin

Update:   McCain VP Contender Palin in Alaska, Not Ohio

ABC News’ Kate McCarthy Reports: As vice presidential speculation swirls, Gov. Sarah Palin is watching the fireworks from her home in Wasilla, Alaska.

McCain VP candidate reportedly lands in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN — A Gulfstream IV jet owned by a firm in Kirkland, Wash., landed at Hook Field Municipal Airport late Thursday night is believed to have had Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin on board as a passenger.

National media outlets have identified the first-term Alaska governor, the first woman elected to the position, as a possible vice presidential candidate for Arizona Sen. John McCain, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee.

Reports: McCain Picks Female Governor As VP

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin

In 1984, Sara Palin was first runner-up in the Miss Alaska beauty pageant after winning the Miss Wasilla contest earlier that year. She won a scholarship to help pay her way through college.

As would-be running mates declare themselves out ofthe running to join John McCain on the 2008 presidential ticket, Palin has emerged as an unlikely favorite for the VP spot.

Democrats fear John McCain will pick a woman as his running mate

With John McCain to name his vice president on Friday, the smoke signals from the Republican Party are spelling out the name of Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison.

Could Kay Bailey Hutchison pick up women’s votes for McCain?

Once a long shot, she is apparently getting a boost from conservatives who see an opening to hoover up the women’s vote after Barack Obama left Hillary Clinton and Kathleen Sebelius on the shelf.

Yes, this would be a magnificent strategy for Republicans.  Kay Bailey a heart beat away from the top … PUMAs will be exstatic.  Hillary will see for herself,  its not her, they just want a woman at the top.  Radical Hillary supporters are really Republicans.

P.U.M.A Voters number 4.5 Million (minimum) Nationwide According to ABC Poll…

Among Democrats who supported Hillary Clinton for president, about one in four, 24 percent, prefer McCain over Obama, and 13 percent pick someone else or say they wouldn’t vote. Those are essentially unchanged from an ABC/Post poll last month, before Clinton suspended her campaign and offered Obama a fulsome endorsement.

Hmmm. 25% of 18 million comes to over 4 million voters. If Obama doesn’t see the writing on the wall, we’ll be very happy to tell him what it says: Come January 20th, 2009, President McCain would take residence in the White House…

PUMA activists will be a factor in this monumental battle.  Their minds were made up long ago.  They have only ONE issue.  They are the THIRD Party.  Democrats must not underestimate Party Unity My Ass (PUMA)s. “We are protesting the 2008 Presidential Election because we refuse to support a nominee who was selected by the leadership rather than elected by the voters,” the PUMAs say.  Kay Bailey will be the deal maker for McCain.

A senior strategist, who has run two presidential campaigns: “If McCain picks a woman, this thing is done.”

On the basis that a politician should always do what his opponent least   wants him to, Hutchison has a shot, as does Sarah Palin, the photogenic young mother who is Governor of Alaska.

Some Republicans like her because they think she will help reinforce Mr McCain’s support for renewed oil drilling, one of his few policies to capture the public imagination this year, at a time of rising fuel prices.

You have to admit that Sarah Palin is pretty hot (remember she was in the Ms. Alaska Pageant) and MUCH BETTER on the eyes than Joe Biden. Oh and wait until you see the bikini pics!!! NOT BAD for a mother of 5.

I’ve never heard of P.U.M.A. but I think I am a member. I wished I heard of this group before. I have been stumped I am Conservative Republician, and I hate/ strongly dislike McCain. But I might be persuaded with his VP pick. I want to know more about her.

You are a PUMA if you are a die hard Hillary Clinton supporter who will vote for McCain or not vote at all. For the PUMA’s it was Hillary on the ticket.

Palin will not appeal to many PUMA’s, Palin is pro life, she is a strong supporter of the NRA and she is a strong advocate for Evangelical Christians.

If McCain was serious about putting a women on the ticket as VP he would have gone with Kay Bailey Hutchinson or another politically proven women. Palin was a look what I did pick.

Currently in Alaska, the legislative council has opened an investigate to see if Governor Sarah Palin abused her power in firing Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan. Palin wanted Monegan to fire her ex-brother in-law, he would not. It may turn out to be nothing but abuse of power bothers me. She need to be looked at very strong.

    Unbelievable!!

How much will that set us back, if Hillary Clinton’s run for presidency is just seen as a woman running for president? Do we really think that Sarah is an equivalent substitution for Hillary? This is a slam to Hillary!! I for one will not be a part of this political tactic. I liked Hillary for what she represented not because she was a woman. I think just a pick of “a woman” minimizes Hillary and her accomplishments. Senator Clinton’s bid for presidency shall not be overshadowed by just picking some woman who can’t hold a candle to her.

I never bought the Kay Bailey Felon as VP rumor.

Kay plans to run for governor — or so I’ve been told by several people who say they know her. She’s the sort of traditional woman, Texas men like and embrace. Plus, Texas has a weak governor structure so it’s a lazy person’s job and perfectly suited to Kay. She can work 20 hours a week, get paid well and travel home to Dallas to count her money and get her hair done big-style.

Sarah Palin, McCain’s Quayle is just a mess. This anti-choice, vehemently homophobic, lifetime NRA member, is the very embodiment of Republican hypocrisy. She has an infant child born with severe Downs Syndrome requiring much care and attention so, what does she do? Feed her ego by accepting McCain’s number two spot with plans to leave her disabled infant with her husband to care for. Don’t cha’ just love Republican family values?

I completly agre with you on the KBH situation as Texas governor and the Palin pick. I am no fan of KBH however, if McCain was going to get a women on the ticket she or any of the other republican govenoprs would have been a much better pick.

This is continued proof that McCain is pandering to the PUMA’s and his poor judgment in very serious times. The PUMA’s will be in for a huge shock when they realize that the only thing they have in common with Palin in gender.

Regarding her child, I was very surprised to hear that she would accept the VP spot and leave the responsibility of disable child in Alaska. The GOP family family values system continues to baffle me.

On another note; in any future post on this blog,I will not use her child as political fodder. However, Palin’s lack of judgment in this situation will be a target.

    NYTexan,

I refuse to board our 11 year old Lab now, so we can jet off to places and countries for vacation because Ginger is getting on in years and she can’t handle the upheaval.

Palin’s judgment — or lack thereof, vis a vis, her disabled infant is a comment on her character and the hypocrisy of her values, as she opposes equality for America’s LGBT community.

I hope this blows up in the Old Coot’s face but I’m not so sure. The bitter PUMA loons are already embracing the McCain/Palin ticket.

Her judgment along with McCain’s is something to be questioned very strongly.

I had been arguing about kbh with my wife since last Saturday but since I found: PUMAs Will Jump On This – Kay Bailey Hutchinson | BlueBloggin, I do find your point of view quite interesting and, in this case specifically, quite useful.
