Ann Richards and Lady Bird Johnson At The Texas Democratic Convention
As BossKitty and I walked around the Texas State Democratic Convention listening to caucuses, watching exhausted delegates running on adrenaline, I knew I was experiencing something that I have never experienced in Texas politics before, energy, hope and Texans ready to stand up and fight. Fight to not only change Texas but fight to change the direction of this country.
While I was taking pictures and listening to state and national politicians, I was continually struck by the number of Texas delegates, 15,0000 to be exact. I couldn’t help but think about Ann Richards and how she would have loved this truly amazing event.
Obviously I wasn’t the only Texan who had Ann on their mind, The Texas State Democratic Party paid tribute to two great Texans Ann Richards and Lady Bird Johnson. Both of whom loved Texas and who are on cloud nine smiling at us.

For me, the video tributes to our great Ladies of State was one of the high points of the convention. We owe a lot to them and to Molly Ivins too; we, today’s Texas Democratic women, are the key to getting this party moving forward…united, spirited and wise. Yes, we can!
