Bye Bye Mush … Bush Manipulation Not Working Anymore
NEW DELHI: Amid uncertainty over the fate of embattled Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, a top leader of the Awami National Party (ANP) on Monday said the former military ruler has just two options left — leave the country or face prosecution. ( Watch )
Pressing for Musharraf’s ouster, Mohammad Hasham Babar, the secretary general of the party which is a part of the PPP-led ruling coalition, said the President has destroyed almost all the institutions in the country, including the judiciary, during his dictatorship.
“He has to go out. We do not want him. Whether he goes out of the country or he is prosecuted in the country…there are only two options,” Babar said.
Asked whether Musharraf is going out of the country, Babar said: “I wish he goes away and his influence also goes away.”
Former premier Nawaz Sharif’s PML-N party has demanded that Musharraf be tried for treason even as ruling PPP approved a proposed constitutional reforms package aimed at clipping the former military ruler’s powers.
There was a buzz in political circles in Pakistan that Musharraf might opt to step down, but the President dismissed the reports as “malicious”.
Babar was in the national capital to participate in an anti-terrorism conference.
Karzai says Western forces bungled war on Taliban
Karzai did not directly mention Pakistan but the Afghan government has said that the West should have done more to crack down on Taliban and al Qaeda bases in Pakistan.
“It was a serious neglect of that, in spite of our warning,” he told CNBC TV 18, adding that other former members of the Taliban who had given up arms were unfairly hunted down within Afghan territory.
This is the most glaring deception perpetrated on a Muslim state. Did anyone ever question why Bush and Musharraf were so intent on reducing the threat of “terrorists” in region? To quote DUNE: “… it is a feint within a feint” and “He who controls the Spice, controls the universe!” We can respond with another DUNE quote, “Give me the judgment of balanced minds in preference to laws every time. Codes and manuals create patterned behavior. All patterned behavior tends to go unquestioned, gathering destructive momentum.”Senator reassured over Pakistani peace deals
ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - A senior U.S. senator said on Wednesday that he had been reassured that whatever peace accords were reached with militants, Pakistan would not tolerate them making cross-border attacks on Western forces in Afghanistan.
“The United States cannot tolerate cross-border raids into Afghanistan on our troops,” Senator Russ Feingold, who serves on the Senate’s foreign relations, intelligence and judiciary committees, told a news conference in Islamabad.
“And we are pleased that so many people reassured us that it’s not something that Pakistan wants to happen, and more importantly is willing to try to make sure that it no longer happens.”
“If you are dealing clearly with tribal leaders who are peaceful and simply want to make sure that their region is not affected by terrorism or the Taliban or Al-Qaeda, of course they are the people who are appropriate to negotiate with,” said Feingold, a Democrat from Wisconsin.
“But on the other hand, I do oppose agreements with militants. I oppose agreements with the Taliban, I oppose agreements with Al-Qaeda.”
Alarmed NATO officials have noted an increase in attacks in Afghanistan while peace talks were underway in Pakistan.
Bush’s next job as a WalMart Greeter will be a fitting end to his career. He will continue to manipulate customers on the same global scale, but a little more benign. He will do a pre-emptive strike on your pocket book, as always, but not your life. This time, you can choose to walk away. Pakistan’s Musharraf will be a frequent customer, if he survives the push to prosecute him for the Bush-Mush multi-billion dollar conspiracy. What have we learned from all these revelations?
