Clinton’s RFK Assassination Remark

Enough with Hillary Clinton and her constant victim behavior. For all the experience she spouts and for all the good judgment she tells us about, she has managed to open a wound with her thoughtless comments:

“We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California”

And now, Hillary Clinton regrets her remark. Clinton’s comments are beyond explanation and beyond the “I’m sorry” excuse. Not only is this an insult to the nation, it’s an insult to all the candidates and to the Kennedy family.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton quickly apologized Friday after citing the June 1968 assassination of Robert F. Kennedy in defending her decision to keep running for the Democratic presidential nomination despite increasingly long odds.

“I regret that if my referencing that moment of trauma for our entire nation and in particular the Kennedy family was in any way offensive. I certainly had no intention of that whatsoever,” the former first lady said.

The episode occurred as Clinton campaigned in advance of the June 3 South Dakota primary.

Responding to a question from the Sioux Falls Argus Leader editorial board about calls for her to drop out of the race, she said:

“My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. You know I just, I don’t understand it,” she said, dismissing the idea of abandoning the race.

  • Clinton said she didn’t understand why, given this history, some Democrats were calling for her to quit.

Maybe now Clinton will fully understand why she needs to get out of the race.

  • Clinton spokesman Mo Elleithee said the senator was only referring to her husband and Kennedy “as historical examples of the nominating process going well into the summer and any reading into it beyond that would be inaccurate and outrageous.”

As the Clinton campaign tries to spin this thoughtless and selfish statement, they neglect to mention that Clinton has evoked Bobby Kennedy before:

  • She has said much the same thing before. In a March interview with Time magazine, she said: “Primary contests used to last a lot longer. We all remember the great tragedy of Bobby Kennedy being assassinated in June in L.A. My husband didn’t wrap up the nomination in 1992 until June, also in California. Having a primary contest go through June is nothing particularly unusual.”

It seems to me that this ought to be her swan song. Surely she realizes that she couldn’t have f’d up any worse if she’d been trying to. This is ten times worse than her “Whitey loves me!!!” bullshit.

how any democrat could think of casting a vote for this divisive, self serving person is beyond me. She is the only person aside from her DELUDED supporters all ten of you – that thinks she is the candidate of choice..she has hurt the party, she has ultimately hurt women too, so happy out there , people ? Is this face of “feminism” not in my world its not – i expect more out people especially people who know full well how the political machine works as she so often says she does -

so there is no excuse…she is an ugly american , who is actively trying to excerbate for her own selfish ambition the ugliness that is ameriKa – at this point – she has me enraged, disgusted and appalled. Tried to hold my tongue, hold my feelings – but its beyond the pale and its calculated..SHE LIES LIES AND LIES some more

you want to vote for her, ….well personally i think anyone who does is not seeing the forest for the trees..You are part of the problem , not the solution…no bullshit –

How you can be proud of this woman is beyond me – her true colors have been exposed through her own words time and time again – SHE IS THE ONLY ONE who has not gotten the MEMO – ITS OVER ! – and she who is so knowledgable has lost control of her exit strategy – the clintons both of em can go straight to HELL –

yeah she has angered me that much ! Foget the past people, we had a tech bubble in the 90’s , Clinton was a shitty president quite frankly – look at the record really closely all promises and lots of NEO LIBERAL tactics..these people are elitests of the worst ilk – because they play on people’s mis information and gulliability and blind loyalty

SHE SUCKS SO HARD ITS ENOUGH TO MAKE ME HURL !

no graciousness, no dignity, no shame. and she did this all to herself , this is not billary bashing – its a critique !

Trying to twist her RFK comment into anything logical or rational is not possible. I am fearful of any politician who would frivolously refer to an assassination.

She has an acerbic attitude and is consistently arrogant and indignant. She has no regard for truth or principle. It disturbs me that so many people fall for her half-truths, lies, and manipulations. I don’t understand why anyone would believe a word she says or vote for her.

I don’t claim to belong to any party so I’m not using this as an opportunity to criticize her. I am truly troubled by her remark.

Clinton has pulled every excuse for her poor showing. She has played the race card, the gender card, the “hard working card”, the elitist card. This one is completely over the top, no excuses.

Her time has come and gone and she needs to get out.

Agreed. Both Hillary and Bill have shown their true colors in this campaign; mean, vindictive, bitter, exaggerations and lies about events, changing the rules, fear mongering. And, she can’t figure out why she is doing so poorly.

Throwing RFK in the campaign is beyond anything that I think even Karl Rove would have come up with.

Clinton’s supporters will again figure out some way that Hillary is being picked on. Their plan of sitting out the general election is extortion and they are playing right into the Clinton play of my way or no way. How George Bush of them.

Hillary Clinton has done more to damage to a women getting into the White House.

She need to get out let the party heal

    Agreed. Well said.

There is not logic or reason for Clinton’s RKF statement. The fact that she has used it more than once, word for word, is very telling about her mindset. Clinton can’t say she was tired or not thinking or any of the number of excuses we have tolerated from Clinton and her campaign.

Instead of realizing her continual damage to the party and her willingness not to except it, Clinton is still going to the convention, like nothing happened. In the end, Hillary will leave the idea of a women for president in the mud and, her supporters will blame everyone but her.
