Iran, Pakistan, India and Israel - New Alliances
Iran steps into enemy’s territory
This week, with his three-nation tour of Pakistan, Sri Lanka and India, Iran’s President Mahmud Ahmadinejad will fortify Iran’s regional ties and thus achieve a milestone in his administration’s “Look East” foreign policy orientation.
Accompanied by a high-ranking delegation, Ahmadinejad’s trip transpires at a time of heightened US allegations of Iran’s meddling in Iraq and serves as an antidote to the US policy of isolating Iran and castigating it as a rogue or pariah state.

Iran`s cooperation with Pak no threat to India: Khatami
TEHRAN: Asserting that Iran would continue to share in expertise in the nuclear field with other countries, its former president Mohammad Khatami on Friday said Iran`s cooperation with Pakistan in this area would “never ever” be a source of threat to India.
This may be a good sign. This may be an alliance that settles the region. Cautious thoughts should follow. If this cooperation bonds constructively, western countries should start withdrawing interference. Animosity has been fueled by western manipulation for decades. Now that the area can stand on it’s own, they must be given a chance to walk in their own direction, nurture their own economies and deal with their own populations. If democracy is the goal, let it evolve on its own.
Caution must be directed toward the merging of military capability and possible aggressive intent. The caution also must be directed at the growing alliance between

I wonder if this will have a side effect of improving relations between Pakistan and India.

I’m reminded of something that happened when Putin ’solved’ the ‘problem’ of Iran enriching reactor fuel by having Russia supply it already done. Surrounding countries volunteered to support Iran in obtaining fuel for its power generating plant.
I don’t have the reference at hand - but am quite sure RIA Novosti had a piece where they explained to Russian readers that the technology Russia was suppling Iran was incompatible with munitions applications.
Iran’s neighbours don’t seem to be the aggravating factor.

libhomo, I doubt Indo-Pak relations will improve much, at first. The new alignments will have to mature before the arrangement shows progress.
One would hope this new alliance improves political and economic stability.
A lot depends on Western countries. If they can wean themselves from manipulating this region, then the region has hope of healing its wounds.

Opit,
Putin’s Russia has made definite decisions that Western powers must back off in the region. He has told the media over and over that he sees Western threats to Iran as a threat to Russia. Putin has postured toward bringing Iran into the alliance he is trying to forge. He wants an economic monopoly in the whole region. He courts China, India and Iran. China and India make up for the poor economy of Iran. Putin wants to take advantage of Iran’s vulnerable situation.
After Cheney did his whirlwind tour of the Middle East to get support against Iran, Putin’s position got even stronger.
The Middle East wants America’s money, not its opinions.
As for Putin’s statements to the Russian public, they will be as truthful as Bush’s statements to the American public.

Guys,
If India was to fulfill it’s aspirations as a leading power it needs to be realistic on the ground and MUST not alienate the “muslims” and muslim neighbours and not to get bogged down in an arms race or competition with China.
This will result in a weaker India manipulate by the other side of the hemisphere and be used as a pawn trapped between hostile neighbors.
A strong India is a strong India - Pak and India - China, India - Iran, India - Indonesia, India - Bangladesh, India - Middle East relationships and continued relationship with the Russians.
This should not mean hostility to America but India needs to tread carefully as who it chooses for patnership knowing all too well this is an energy resource built power struggle and for India to conitnue it needs energy resource from - Iran, Pakistan, Mid East, Indonesia etc etc.
Start working with China as opposed against it otherwise a new cold war will emerge in the indian ocean.
I Wish India all the best as do I do to Pakistan - if these nations ever united what a unity it would be - same culture, language and history they MUST find a common ground. If Kashmir is the central issue then like Pak and Islamic radicalism India too must let go off the hindu fundamentalism that create this divide and will stop Idia co existing with it’s neighbors.
ISlamic millitancy was an American tool to curb the Russians, it was not a cause but was a creation and can easily be stopped through good bilateral decision making for the good of Kashmir, India and PAkistan.
Pakistanis, Kashmiris will listen if India scaled back and gave soome respect back to this region. This will not favour the Millitancy in Kashmir - Both must learn to co exist and co operative at every level.
It is beneficial for Pakistan which is fast becoming a faield state and for India if it wishes to attain it’s aspirations.
This invovles everyone - so you the ordinary idians and paks must stop swearing at each other and learn to find a common ground. This border between the two “really” should be a thin border as there should be so much love between the two.
Chinas another power these nations must befriend - If the West is doing everything to befriend China then why can India not do the same.
Peace in this region means great stability and great economic boom for this part of the worls at a time of great incertainty.

The world is changing as the economic shift goes towards the East.
A united Asia and Pacific will see a strong economic block if there is no UNITY then others will benefit from your hard work!!

India-Pak and China, I recognize the importance of this power shift. I believe the new administration recognizes this, too. As the EAST becomes the top world power, the WEST will have to learn from its mistakes and begin recovery. Our One World will be rebuilt or destroyed, depending how successful we all are learning from the mistakes.
