VA Caught In Suicide Coverup
The email was disclosed Tuesday in a federal trial at a courthouse in Northern California where two veterans advocacy groups filed a class-action lawsuit against the VA alleging that a systematic breakdown at the VA has led to an epidemic of suicides among war veterans. These groups claim the VA has turned away veterans who have sought help for posttraumatic stress disorder and were suicidal. Some of the veterans, the lawsuit claims, later took their own lives.
The Feb. 13., 2008, email, disclosed in federal court Tuesday, was sent to Ira Katz, the VA’s mental health director by Ev Chasen, the agency’s chief communications director.
Last week, the RAND Corporation released a study that said about 300,000 U.S. troops sent to combat in Iraq and Afghanistan are suffering from major depression or PTSD, and 320,000 received traumatic brain injuries. Since October 2001, about 1.6 million U.S. troops have deployed to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Many soldiers have completed more than two tours of duty meaning they are exposed to prolonged periods of combat-related stress or traumatic events.
“There is a major health crisis facing those men and women who have served our nation in Iraq and Afghanistan,” said Terri Tanielian, a researcher at RAND who worked on the study. “Unless they receive appropriate and effective care for these mental health conditions, there will be long-term consequences for them and for the nation. Unfortunately, we found there are many barriers preventing them from getting the high-quality treatment they need.”
Those are statistics Paul Sullivan, the executive director of Veterans for Common Sense, has been warning lawmakers about for several years.
This has to be another nail in this administrations house of lies. Where is the law? Why go after government agencies when they are following orders from above? The common rule is follow the chain of command. Abu Garib is a grand example of prosecuting the underlings. This causes anyone following orders from their bosses to mistrust everything. Anyone who has a boss is the designated scapegoat. This is a fine example of how America has fallen into line with dictatorships. Lead through fear and intimidation. America is getting too good at extortion.
Will someone, please, connect all the dirty little dots and prosecute these bastards? Who has the balls to step up? Who is willing to take the heat from all the mini-me government hierarchies, protecting the president and his staff? So many questions are floating around REAL Americans little heads. A REAL American would not condone all the trashing of what was once America. I call on anyone who misses what America once stood for to start the shout. There is a mess of our own making to clean up. The top of this pyramid of deception should be our first target. BossKitty is fed up and very disappointed at the complacency pandemic.
Guantanamo needs some high profile US politician residents for a start.

Clapso, I have been neglectful. My apologies. Ralph or Ron Paul, may as well jump back in at this point. I also miss Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel.
To quote our once powerful Secretary of Defense, “As you know, you go to war with the army you have, not the army you might want or wish to have at a later time.”
We have an army of flawed candidates …

That is one drawback of having a commander and chief that has never been in a life threatining situation. Especially for extreme extended periods of time. Only a soldier who has been through it can know. Only a soldier should have the unrestricted authority to be there to help our soldiers and when they come home.

If we would of had any accountability over the past 8 years, instead of being left out of any part of our destiny, we wouldn’t be where we are now. We didn’t vote for this.

I went to ptsd treatments in athens georgia. it was some kind of rape treatment program that was rediculous. It caused my bad dreams to get worse. I saw a psychologist and he asked me a few questions, listened to me for my 10 minutes and looked at his watch and walked me out, he could care less. There was no treatment for this problem and i have yet to find anything????? Va is spouting off about it but has nothing, no program that works. I think they just want us to all blow our brains out so we will shut up, it will save them money. Politicians want to send us to war and then drop us off on the side of the road stateside and shut up.
