A few months ago, there was a general/colonel/something-like-that who was the "military analyst" for CBS News. General John Bastiste. He was "let go" because he came out and publicly opposed the war or the surge. He appeared in a VoteVets ad calling for withdrawal from Iraq.

Anyway, at the time it struck me as odd that he would be let go simply because he was against the war...given that ABC News' "military analyst" for several years has been Jack Keane, who was also one of the architects of the "troop surge." How it can be considered "not objective" to have a military guy on one network because he is "anti-war" and just fine to have a "pro-war" (actually, a war-planner) on anther is beyond me.
