April 28th, 2008 at 1:05 pm
People who got refund with direct deposit will be first to receive checks. What about we who sent a check, rather than received a refund. Where will we be in the line?
April 28th, 2008 at 5:01 pm
when will i get my check.the last two digits of my social security # is 92. and could you tell me the amount of my check
April 28th, 2008 at 6:27 pm
charlotte and lonnie scott:
According to the IRS payment chart above, your check should be arriving May 16 if you had your refund direct deposit or July 11 if you had the IRS mail you your refund.
I have no idea how much you will receive since economic stimulus payments are based on your 2007 tax return.
April 28th, 2008 at 6:37 pm
Jeanne C. Carlson:
Good question. If you full paid your tax on your original tax return by sending a check, IRS will mail your Stimulus Payment. Check IRS.GOV, there is a calculator in the FAQ. There is also a payment schedule based on the last 2 digits of your SSN.
BTW – If you have any outstanding obligations to any other Government agency, like child support, student loans or state tax, your Stimulus Payment will be applied to those
Calculator: http://www.irs.gov/app/espc/
Schedule: http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=180250,00.html
April 28th, 2008 at 6:45 pm
To All:
1) Most of the calculations are automatic based on your Original 2007 Tax Return, Mailed or E-filed before April 15 this year.
2) If you sent an amended return that changed your basic tax condition, there will be an adjustment later in the year.
3) If there is a problem of any kind on your tax return, the published payment schedule will not apply to you. Once the problem is resolved, the Stimulus Payment will be calculated late summer or early fall.
4) If you filed an Injured Spouse Claim with your Original 2007 Tax Return, your Stimulus Payment will be automatically calculated and sent. If you filed it after your Original, you will have to send another one with “Stimulus Payment” printed at the top.

April 28th, 2008 at 7:25 pm
i cant see the goddamn chart.
April 28th, 2008 at 7:33 pm
Justin:
You be using Internet Explorer and thank you for telling me. I checked and the chart is screwed up.
I am working on the fix for Explorer users..
April 28th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
OK…. I have fixed the above charts so all internet browsers can see it.
For some reason Explorer wants to put bold lines around the first row but the information is all there. Sorry about the lay out issue. Again thanks for bringing it to my attention.
April 29th, 2008 at 12:36 am
What if you made only $2,475 in 2007, from working.
But I’ve already filed my taxes and received my refund.
(It was direct deposit) I did not know that I could report my Social Security Disabilty Income. (FOR THE YEAR 2007) IS IT TOO LATE TO FILE FOR THE STIMULUS PACKAGE??
April 29th, 2008 at 5:58 am
Shirley, if your SSI was not included on your original 2007 Tax Return, file an Amended return, 1040X, and just add the income shown in “box 5″ of the 1099SSA that Social Security sent you. At the TOP of the 1040X write STIMULUS PAYMENT. It will take about 8 weeks for your check to be mailed.
April 29th, 2008 at 3:37 pm
The way I see it is that if we have direct deposit we were suppose to recieve our checks this week regardless of the social security numbers.
April 29th, 2008 at 4:59 pm
Do I fill out the whole application? I’m so confused…also it was done electronically.
April 29th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
Cindy:
It would be completely impossible for the IRS to send checks out in one week to everyone listed above with direct deposit. The IRS is still going by the social security number system, Bush pushed up the checks one week earlier that’s the only difference in the system..
April 29th, 2008 at 5:18 pm
Shirley:
I’m not sure what application you are talking about. You have to file a 2007 tax return to receive the stimulus check.
April 29th, 2008 at 6:14 pm
I did fill out a tax return, unfortunately I only made $2,475, I did it eletronically and received my refund through direct deposit. The reason I made so less is because I’m disable. ( Do you have to make $3,000 to receive the Stimulus Payment?)
I didn’t know that I could put my Social Security Disabilty Income in there too, I wrote in earlier stating about my situation, I was told to file an Amend 1040X (which i’m doing) Do I fill out the whole application?
April 29th, 2008 at 6:17 pm
I’m sorry if I asked too many questions…Please forgive me.
April 30th, 2008 at 4:59 am
Shirley, you can also send a ‘Duplicate Tax Return’. Send a 2007 Form 1040A. Copy all the information from your original 2007 return and add your Social Security income on line 14a. Click this link for your instructions:
http://www.irs.gov/pub/newsroom/1040a.pdf
If you have specific questions about how to proceed, call IRS at 1-800-829-1040
May 1st, 2008 at 10:10 am
I checked the IRS website (Where’s my payment?) and it couldn’t give me a date — however, according to the schedule, we’re supposed to be among the first ones paid!
Does owing on student loans ( a few months behind, unfortunately) delay the payment (since it said that funds could be offset for that)? Also, haven’t received notice about the payment other than the first one in March … haven’t even received a notice of offset!
Anyone have an idea of what’s going on?
TIA!!
May 1st, 2008 at 10:42 am

May 1st, 2008 at 11:12 am
Wonderin….the “Where’s My Refund” on the IRS site is for your actual taxes that you get back…not the Rebate/stimulus. Just wanted to let you know.
May 1st, 2008 at 11:18 am
Thanks for the reply, Samantha … but I did use the “Where’s my Economic Stimulus Payment” engine … not the one for tax refunds.
Thanks, though!
May 1st, 2008 at 11:33 am
OH! Well I didnt know they had that one up and running-I know in the FAQ’s they said they are going to have one sometime. Where the heck did you find that? Sorry!!
May 1st, 2008 at 11:36 am
Ooh I found it! THANKS!
May 1st, 2008 at 11:39 am
Oh, believe me, Samantha, it wasn’t easy to find!!!
May 1st, 2008 at 11:41 am
It wouldnt give me a date-but it did for my Fiance’s
May 1st, 2008 at 4:46 pm
OK! If you filed jointly with your spouse will the goverment go off of the Primary or the secondary tax payers’ SSN for the date they will send it out?
May 1st, 2008 at 5:20 pm
Joshua:
I believe the IRS would use the primary SS# as the target date.
May 1st, 2008 at 7:37 pm
Right on! Thank you very much!
May 1st, 2008 at 8:22 pm
i filed eletronicly but got a check in the mail, what will it go by?
May 1st, 2008 at 8:53 pm
Shawn:
Since you had your tax refund check mailed to you, the stimulus check will also be mailed.
May 2nd, 2008 at 9:45 am
Today being Friday April 2nd and it seems the IRS has miss led us for, I was standing in line at the check cashing place to pay bills and people with numbers from 00-21 srill have not revieved the stimulus payments though they opted for direct deposit. Something is seriously wrong with this picture. I too have check the IRS site to see about my stimulus payment and It gave me nothing and I am next to have my stimulus payment direct deposit. WIll this situation make or payments late because they hve not finished with 00-21 yet?
May 2nd, 2008 at 10:49 am
What time will the checks be direct deposited on the second?
May 2nd, 2008 at 11:30 am
i did my taxes through turbo tax and recived a refund back in 2/2008 my last two digits is 12 and i had it direct deposited into my bank account and i still havent recived anyhting. what is going on with the irs.
someone i work with has 4 kids and last tow digits is 68 and already recieved their refund what’s up with that
May 2nd, 2008 at 11:44 am
WHAT AMOUNT DO SINGLES GET
May 2nd, 2008 at 1:02 pm
They said the checks would be deposited today May 2nd. My husband ss# ends in 01. It is now 3:00 pm and it hasn’t been deposited I think the government has lied.
May 2nd, 2008 at 1:11 pm
ok people i just got off the phone with the irs and they stated that if you prepared your taxes by yourself thorugh website like turbo tax and HR block and you had them deduct fees from your IRS refund you will be recieving a check in the mail not direct deposit even if you elected for direct deposit through those sites
May 2nd, 2008 at 1:12 pm
My fiance got his this morning. I dont get mine until the 5th, I am in the second batch (the irs site told me on the 5th it would be deposited)
May 2nd, 2008 at 1:13 pm
Hey anonymous—it depends on your 2007 taxes… but I am only getting 300 and I am listed as single b/c my fiance claimed head of household and our daughter
May 2nd, 2008 at 1:32 pm
WHAT ABOUT PEOPLE WHO FILED WITH H AND R BLOCK
May 2nd, 2008 at 1:34 pm
what about if you filed at a h and r block office and not over the internet
May 2nd, 2008 at 2:09 pm
the irs stated that if you did your taxes with HR and Turbo Tax and you had them take the taxes out from your IRS refund then you will get a check in the mail.
If you did the RAL inticipated refund loan then you will get a check. if you paid for the deductions through a CC and then had it deposited then you should have it as the normal time
May 2nd, 2008 at 2:10 pm
all i can say this is all crazy the IRS said that they wont start sending out checks until next week why not a week early. may 5th through the 9th checks will be mailed out for the first batch
May 2nd, 2008 at 2:12 pm
Monique, I don’t understand. I filed my taxes at H&R office and yes, I elected to have the H&R feed deducted from my refund, but I got the refund as a direct deposit into my bank.
I guess, I am confused.
May 2nd, 2008 at 2:13 pm
My question is, because I had H&R deduct their fees from my refund, I will get a check instead of direct deposit?
May 2nd, 2008 at 3:24 pm
yes the irs stated that the IRS uses a outside bank besides our on offical bank to give us the money so they cant send the money to HR block to then send us the money because then HR block will then dedcut fees to give us our money so the IRS will send us a check.i hope this helped you
May 2nd, 2008 at 3:25 pm
i meant to say that HR block uses an outside bank to deposit or refund checks
May 2nd, 2008 at 3:27 pm
you can also call the IRS at 800-829-1040 and request that you want info on your refund not the rebate and when the operator picks up they will ask you if you are calling on your refund or your rebate and state that you are calling about your rebate and ask the question you will be on hold for a series of 20 minutes but you can get all oyur questions answered
May 2nd, 2008 at 4:44 pm
Ok well that really stinks! I used HR block. I would’ve got paid today to, last 2 of my ssn are 01. I am not a happy camper about that, they should of been more clear so I could of done something about it before I found out
May 2nd, 2008 at 6:06 pm
my last ssi ebds with 11 and i have not seen anything in my account. Has anyone gotten theirs yet?
May 2nd, 2008 at 9:43 pm
For all who used H&R Block or Jackson Hewitt, they make you sign a contract to have your refund Direct Deposited into their RAL (Refund Anticipation Loan) Bank so they can deduct their fees. After they get their money, they either mail or direct your deposit as you instructed or agreed to.
IRS will not Direct Deposit this Economic Stimulus into a RAL Bank. They will mail it to the address on your tax return according to their published schedule.
http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=181972,00.html
There is some confusion about how the Stimulus payment will be addressed to those who got “Emerald Cards”. Some payments will be added to the “Emerald Card” and some will not. You will have to contact H&R Block about that one.
RAL Banks are available to lend money in advance of your refund as a “High Risk” loan with extraordinary fees attached. Many preparers don’t explain that clearly because they get kickbacks for each loan they sell.
May 2nd, 2008 at 9:48 pm
I am not a fan of RALs because it takes advantage of people who need every dime they can get. These slick preparers sell the idea that you can get that refund the “same day”. The more desperate you are the easier it is to sell you this bank loan at 10 time the interest rate of a normal bank. In most cases you are beating the IRS refund by only a week to 10 days. That’s what those banks are counting on. They can make a couple of hundred dollars by advancing you a 10 day loan. If you made under $34,000, you could have had your taxes done free and gotten your entire refund in 10 to 15 days.

May 3rd, 2008 at 7:48 am
II want to know something… my soc ends in 06 and I have nto recieved anything as well I did my taexs thru a preparer, not h&R and not jackson hewt.. and I recieved my regular refund thru my account… Now will I get a check or a deposit for my stimulus payment.. I have checked everything including the tax offeset to see if anything ntercepted my check and htere is no sign anywhere..
May 3rd, 2008 at 7:49 am
Please excuse my typos.. a little frustrated
May 3rd, 2008 at 8:19 am
Royce, have you checked with your preparer? If your Stimulus doesn’t arrive by direct deposit, it will most likely arrive by mail.
May 3rd, 2008 at 9:38 am
Yes I asked them and they said it will be directly deposited.. I dont think anyone knows what to really expect.. and the gov did a poor job explaining things..It would be nice to know how this think goes so that we know how to respond.. if there is a problem or just delays
May 3rd, 2008 at 9:39 am
“thing”
May 3rd, 2008 at 9:45 am
ok, so i did my taxes on hr block and received my refund. i did not owe taxes and received a refund. the website is stating that there is no information for me. the calculator states i should get 1200. the only fee i paid was the $14.95 filing fee. my refund was direct deposit, does this mean i will be getting a check instead of a direct deposit?
May 3rd, 2008 at 10:07 am
I used TurboTax with direct deposit.
I can’t get a live person at the IRS.
So am I to understand that they will MAIL my check???
WTF????
May 3rd, 2008 at 12:10 pm
Here we are the first week into this stimulus payment schedule and there are still people from 00-20 that has not gotten their stimulus payments. I’m in the next round of stimulus payments and I just don’t know. I guess it will come when it comes. I have never in my life seen so much confusion and frustration. I think better planning or better over site of this program should have been done. I check the IRS site for my stimulus payment and it could not give me no information.
May 3rd, 2008 at 12:19 pm
I too am an 06 and it is Saturday the 3rd and nothing. I guess we sound a little ungrateful but the economy is killing me and I really need the money. My brother-in-law is 19 and received his Friday???? Anyone…
May 3rd, 2008 at 12:20 pm
Oh and the website gave me the same feedback. Atleast I am not alone I was worried for a moment!
May 3rd, 2008 at 1:09 pm
Did anybody get a second notice from the IRS stating if they qualify or not or how much they are supposed to get? According to the first notice there should be another notice that is supposed to arrive shortly BEFORE the payment is made?
May 3rd, 2008 at 2:09 pm
No I did not get a second notice.. This whole thing is a mess.. sporadic random and inconsistant..
May 3rd, 2008 at 4:11 pm
If anyone used h&r block, jackson hewitt,etc and alot of us did, if you thought that because you e filed and had your refund directly deposited that your rebate would be too, guess what, your money was deposited into their accounts not yours, The irs has those bank numbers not yours. you will all get paper checks. Hope everyone used the correct address. What a clusterfuck. Good luck to all.
May 3rd, 2008 at 6:27 pm
You mean we will get a check from their bank? I moved since then. OH COCKYPOOK!
May 3rd, 2008 at 7:48 pm
I received my refund check already. Can I request my stimulus check to be direct deposited if I give you the appropriate
May 3rd, 2008 at 7:52 pm
I have received my refunds check already from the IRS. If I submit the needed information for direct deposit, can I receive my stimulus check with direct deposit? I am moving the end of May but I don’t know my new address yet.
May 3rd, 2008 at 8:43 pm
David, you can call the IRS as soon as you know your new address. OR You might consider temporarily getting a PO Box near your new location and giving that to IRS as your new address. IRS will get your Stimulus check back from the Post Office and hold it, if you have moved and you haven’t updated your address.
IRS cannot add direct deposit information after a tax return is received.
May 3rd, 2008 at 8:52 pm
To All:
If you have moved and not made an address change at the Post Office, you might want to call IRS and give them your new address. Their call centers are open until 10PM weekdays. It will be worth the hold time, especially if you like classical music.
You can always have the Post Office hold all your mail until the check arrives. Otherwise they will send it back and you will have to call and give your new address.
May 4th, 2008 at 1:52 am
I am an injured spouse. I have seen everywhere that our stimulus payments will only be half of what they should be, even though we have 2 children. Basically instead of them holding just his $600, they will be withholding his $600 plus one of my childrens $300 to go to his back child support. I am semi-ok with that, however, no one has said if injured spouse will delay the stimulus or if it will be on time. I file the injured spouse form with my taxes (as always), and our refund was processed and completed before April 15.
Please Advise to if the stimulus will take longer or will be the same.
Thanks
May 4th, 2008 at 5:08 am
Does any one know if they will begin this Monday with the next round of direct deposits for 21-75. The way that I am hearing poeple talking about they haven’t recieved theirs from 00-20 what is going to happen with us. Will our payments be late. I think this whole situation is a utter disgrace. There is not clean cut answer to this night mare. Wish everyone luck in all this madness. If you hear about the second batch start time let me know.
May 4th, 2008 at 7:55 am
Injured Spouse,
1) since the injured spouse was filed originally with your tax return, it Should Not delay the stimulus payment.
2) the allocation for the injured spouse depends on what state you are in. Community Property states Should divide the payment in half, Community Property states govern how the allocation is made. So, if you have been allocated that child before, it will happen again.
May 4th, 2008 at 7:58 am
My ss is 14. I used direct deposit…got refund in Feb. Then filed amended return 1040x because of a late w-2 in Mar. Will this delay my stimulus check? I sent in the additional money owed for the w-2 and it cleared my bank in a week. I still haven’t received anything. The irs website says my info doesn’t match!!!!
May 4th, 2008 at 8:06 am
MaryAnn,
The Stimulus calculation depends on the ORIGINAL return you filed. So far, Amended Returns will Not Cause a new calculation, regardless how it changes your return.
Unless the amendment makes a drastic difference, the Stimulation would be the same amount, anyway.
If your tax return was “Free Filed” your Direct Deposit should not be effected.
If you paid for return preparation from the refund, your payment will probably be mailed.
May 4th, 2008 at 8:11 am
Michael,
Direct Deposits usually happen on Fridays as a pending transaction. Bank Clearing Houses determine how long it takes to post to your account. It will usually post on the following Monday.
If there are no other factors regarding your original refund, there should be no reason for a delay.
The worst case would be your check would be mailed, according to the original schedule.
May 4th, 2008 at 8:21 am
For All:
The second notices are indeed sporadic. They may not be sent to everyone. They are a courtesy mail out that is very expensive for the taxpayer, last estimate is $42 million. They are Not necessary.
As long as the mailing address on your return is accurate, mailed Stimulus checks will be sent according to schedule.
If you have moved, the IRS will change your address by phone, this one time.
The Post Office almost never forwards government checks, they will be returned to the government until a new address is provided.
May 4th, 2008 at 9:41 am
I never recieved a letter to let me know if I would recieve a stimulus check could you please let me know if I do or not thanks so much
May 4th, 2008 at 9:53 am
Actually all the letter tells everyone is that Congress passed the economic stimulus package and checks will arrive based on your 2007 tax return.
These letters are not personalized to your tax return they are generic information letters. Getting a letter does not mean you will know the amount of your stimulus check
A second letter is so unnecessary and will cost the taxpayer millions of dollars. A complete waste of money to inform people of information that is available at the IRS website or by calling the IRS 800 number or by contacting a local IRS walk-in office.
May 4th, 2008 at 3:36 pm
Where did everyone find out information that if you had H&R Block fees taken out automatically from your tax refund that your stimulus check will end up being mailed???? Where did that information come from? Besides these postings that I see on websites from people on these blogs?????
May 4th, 2008 at 4:40 pm
Nicole,
The IRS website FAQ has this info:
http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=181997,00.html
Q. I chose direct deposit for my 2007 tax refund but also requested a refund anticipation loan (RAL) from my preparer. How does that affect my stimulus payment?
A. Taxpayers who use RALs or enter into any other loan or financial agreement with their tax professional cannot receive their stimulus payments by direct deposit and instead will get a paper check. (normally fees from refunds are considered RALs)
Q. I chose to have my tax refund deposited onto a “stored value card” or debit card through the professional tax preparer I used. Will my stimulus payment be directly deposited onto that same stored value card or debit card account?
A. Yes, unless you requested a refund anticipation loan (RAL) through your tax professional, or the stored value card or debit card account has been closed, in which case you will receive your economic stimulus payment by paper check. [Updated 4/30/08]
May 4th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
i got married this year and changed my name. would that affect my direct deposit since the name on the bank account is different?
May 5th, 2008 at 6:19 am
The update said that dircet deposit stimulus checks will be first but I never recieved mine. Do you know when they are supposed to finish with the direct deposit rebates?
May 5th, 2008 at 7:11 am
Cheryl, Make sure the name you used on your tax return matches the name on your Social Security Card. You must ask your bank about how they will handle that deposit.
Patti, check the IRS web site about the schedule. You can also call 1-800-829-1040.
May 5th, 2008 at 7:40 am
Today is Monday May 5th, 2008 and I guess this is suppopse to begin the next round of stimulus payments to persons with ss#21-75 to be direct deposit. Honestly I think the IRS is very much behind in getting these paynments out. As much as all of us can use it or need it, its seems like a hurry up and wait situation. I hope all of this mess will be resolved soon.
May 5th, 2008 at 7:53 am
lots of my friends didnt get theirs last week–when they where supposed too—i am suppposed to get mine this week—i dont expect it though–more bullshit from the feds—not the donkeys or elephants—-just plain old feds
May 5th, 2008 at 7:55 am
Ty NyTexan…………… I have been having a hard time figuring out when my stimulus check is coming, ty for 800 number. it was able to give be the date when to expect my check !!!!! Kudos to you
May 5th, 2008 at 8:09 am
I wanted to know the website to find ot when my checks will be sent. Does anyone know?
May 5th, 2008 at 8:33 am
If you filed with H&R block, turbo tax etc. and you paid the tax preparation fee out of pocket, by debit, credit card or checking account, your stimulus should be direct deposited according to the chart on the IRS web site. (That is if you had it direct deposited) That is what they say at least. I checked Where’s my stimulus payment and it says I should have mine by May 9 with last two #’s 44. I filed on H&R block site and paid my filing fee with my debit card. If you had your H&R block fees deducted from your tax refund it will delay your payment, even if you had it direct deposited and did not get a refund anticipation loan. Your original refund was sent to H&R block to have fees deducted before it was direct deposited, therefore the IRS did not directly deposit it. Hope this helps some people not sit on hold for 45 min. like I did!
May 5th, 2008 at 9:14 am
My stimulus money did not arrive yet (May 5th) – I filed in January and the last two digits of my SS is 10. I received my tax refund by direct deposit into my bank. I filed online with turbotax. Does anyone know why some of us haven’t received our direct deposits yet? We were supposed to receive the direct deposit May 2nd.

We have moved and changed our address through the post office will they forward the check or do I need to call IRS and change address too. We received our first notice via being forwarded by post office as well as some state tax checks.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:21 am
Is there a 1-800# to call and find out why we haven’t recieved r stimulus check?
May 5th, 2008 at 11:34 am
i just got off the phone with the IRS they are stating that IF you filed your taxes through and online taxing place and had there fees deducted out your refund you will recieve a paper check and that the paper checks will be mailed out on what the irs website is saying 00-09 may 12 10-18 may 23 but i was hearing that all checks will be mailed out all a week early due to they have sent most of all the direct deposits out already and now they can focus on sending out the paper checks. my social ends in 12 and when you check the website where is my stimulus refund and your social ends in 00-09 they will give you a date of when your check is mail for the reminder the the social number i gues you can check daily
May 5th, 2008 at 11:42 am
Since the direct deposits started a week earlier, are the mailed checks going to start going out a week earlier also?
May 5th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
Brandy1974:
Your welcome for the 800 number. Glad it worked out for you.
Again for anyone who missed the 800 number above,
IRS number is:
1-800-829-1040
BTW:They answer up to 10:00p.m. M-F
May 5th, 2008 at 5:14 pm
Patti:
According to the original schedule above, direct deposits are suppose to end May 16th. However, since Bush announced checks going out one week earlier it seems to have upset the original IRS plan. Imagine that Bush upsetting the process.

NYTEXAN,
my name is different on my ss card since i got married and changed it in March. it matches my name on the bank account but the last name is not the same as when i originally filed taxes. the bank said as long as the account number is the same, it should be ok
May 6th, 2008 at 6:47 am
Cheryl, I moved and the address is different on my bank account. I talked to the IRS and they too said it would be fine for direct deposit. They said the only info they use to deposit it is you bank routing number and account number. They said the only problem would be if you bank rejects it. I talked to the bank and they said it would be ok because they have my old address on record and the account was never closed. Has anyone got their rebate with the las two 21-75??? I thought they were ahead of schedule? I’m 44 and have seen nothing.

To Maryann who wrote in about an amended return:
I too realized that I had made an error on my original return (sent in January) and so I sent an amended return in April. I was told be the IRS that my stimulus payment was on hold until my 1040x was prossesed, even though they already cashed my check. The lady said that this is because when they get a check with an amended return they automatically assume that you may owe more money, and so any other refund or rebate (like the stimulus payment) is put on hold until they sort it all out. She said that it takes 8-12 weeks to process the amended return, and that the stimulus payment should go out 3-4 weeks after that. So, in essence, I am looking at a 4 month wait. Sorry bosskitty, but an amended return will indeed affect when and if you receive a stimulus payment. Even though my original refund came direct deposit, I will now have to wait for a check and they lady I spoke to did seem certain that the stimulus payment would be sent once my amended return was processed.
May 6th, 2008 at 8:08 am
I had to file an amendment as I had a late form come in. Will this effect my receiving my stimulus check on time? My last two #’s of my ss is 71. I will use my money to pay last months rent!! If Bush wants to give us a ‘boost’ then we need to receive these checks every 3 or 6 months until this country can catch up and until we keep jobs here and lower prices at the pump and in the grocery store!!!
May 6th, 2008 at 8:08 am
Sorry, let me make a correction. The lady I spoke to (the third lady, I might say) did not seem at all certain I’d get my stimulus payment this year. I must say that each person you speak with at the IRS gives a different answer.
May 6th, 2008 at 8:12 am
Sonya, I suggest you call the IRS. Friday afternoon I called the number on the IRS website page that told me they could not tell me the status of my rebate. Then I was given a different number for the hold department. Finally I was told to call 1-800-829-0922 and got the lady who told me my stimulus payment was held up by my amended return. They can pull up your records and tell you for sure.
May 6th, 2008 at 8:55 am
Am I going to receive a stimulus check?
May 6th, 2008 at 9:13 am
the last two digits of my ss is 30. when will i get my check. it is direct deposit. i filed injured spouse, will this alter the amount or time?
May 6th, 2008 at 9:54 am
I am 20 years old and filed my 2007 tax return and received a refund. However my dad claims me as a dependent, does this disqualify me for a stimulus check?
May 6th, 2008 at 9:55 am
Stimulus Payments are being issued on a schedule according to the last 2 digits of the primary social security number (SSN) shown on your 2007 tax return.
If filing or preparation fees were deducted from your 2007 Refund or you received a rapid refund, you will be receiving a check instead of a direct deposit. Please see the Paper Check section of the Payment Schedule.

May 6th, 2008 at 5:59 pm
I filed my 2007 tax return but didn’t attach the word stimuls at the top when can I get my check
May 6th, 2008 at 7:17 pm
WHEN WILL I GET MY REBATE CHECK
May 6th, 2008 at 7:22 pm
RUBY HUGHES:
I suggest you call the IRS and ask them. They will look at you file and give you an answer.
IRS number is:
1-800-829-1040
May 6th, 2008 at 7:35 pm
James M. Sackett:
I don’t know why you believe that you need to put the words “stimulus package” on your 2007 tax return.
That statement is ONLY for SSDI and others who usually do not file yearly tax returns. They are required to send in a 1040A but not required to complete the return.
May 6th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
ryan bills:
The correct IRS number to call is 1-800-829-1040.
May 6th, 2008 at 8:25 pm
Ruby and Everyone else;
Next year, you should think twice about falling for the “Instant or Same Day” Refund. That is a very high interest Bank Loan that exceeds normal bank loan costs. Your refunds don’t take as long as they used to, 10 to 15 days if there are no problems with your E-Filed tax return.
1) IRS is back on the regular schedule as posted above.
2) If you don’t get a direct deposit, it will be mailed.
3) Everyone whose tax return was finished processing BEFORE April 15 is on the posted schedule.
4) Everyone who filed ON April 15 was processed AFTER April 15 and will get their deposit or check around 6 weeks after their tax return posts to their account.
5) The IRS page “Where’s My Stimulus” is accurate the same week that the refund is scheduled to release. That’s because the programming for this feature was “down and dirty” to make information available ASAP.
6) Yes! The phones are clogged with people asking the same questions over and over. The answers people seek are on the IRS web page.
7) Next year, you should do your own taxes and have a better understanding how the system works. Learn what your filing status is. Single and (Unmarried) Head of Household are TWO separate filing statuses. The definitions are in Publication 501 on IRS web page.
Putting yourself at the mercy of some of those sleazy tax preparers who charge too much is nonsense. If you make under $38,000, you should get your taxes done free, E-File or Mailed.
If you have one or two W-2s you should do your own taxes.
May 7th, 2008 at 4:02 am
to: bosskitty–hello——-i have been doing my own taxes for about 20 years—and had only 1 problem over all those filings–i know what im doing—the probelm that i have is that the administration and the i.r.s. were not clear on the process—leading people to believe some things that were not entirely true—i dont know i i would call it misleading—but it wasnt clear enough for most people—please answer me this—-i paid the fees from my tax return refund—am i going to get a direct deposit or is my check going to be mailed to me—cant find it on the i.r.s. website—thank you—-r.b.
May 7th, 2008 at 6:05 am
Ryan,
“fees from my tax return refund”
That means the software you used set up a temporary account to receive your refund, subtract the fee then direct deposit into your account.
That account closes as soon as the transaction is completed.
You will get your payment by check. IRS FAQ: No, the account information used for an incoming direct debit payment to the IRS cannot be used as the account information for the direct deposit of the stimulus payment. People who choose direct debit to pay a balance due will receive their stimulus payments by paper check through the mail. [Updated 3/3/08] http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=182718,00.html
I agree, the publicity about this event was too fast and not clear. Mr Bush and Congress really did not give the IRS very much set up time to handle an event of this magnitude. Add to all this the mis-information and scams that always attend government money flow. No wonder people are confused.
May 7th, 2008 at 10:13 am
Friends with very close numbers to mine have already received their check but I haven’t – none of us should have received the check until May 9th but they got theirs a week early. We all filed 2007 returns electronically and have direct deposit. I am the only one that has not received the check. Do you know why?
May 7th, 2008 at 10:32 am
I know several people that have gotten there stimulus money in there bank account. My question is are they following any type of system on handing them out?? Are they going buy the husbands ss# Or What ? I’m just trying to figure out how or when we might be getting ours.
Thanks so much,
Tabi
May 7th, 2008 at 12:18 pm
Why has the irs have on there website that all direct deposit will be out by may 2. That was a lie, now they say may 9th. i guess that is a lie too, cause there is alot of people with 00 and they still havent got theres. how are they puttin them in your account. are there people working overtime to get these payment out. hire me,i will help the irs type them in. i got good typing skills. there process is running very slow. but if you owe them(irs) they would have taken your money as soon as they(irs) can.
May 7th, 2008 at 2:35 pm
Angela I to have good typing skills and I would be happy to be hired by the IRS to help get these payments out. I don’t know if they are under staffed or what the problem is. The IRS is so far ahead till they left alot of people payments behind. The way I see it you wll get it when they are ready for you to have it. For I in the next round or payments 21-75 and I have been calling and checking and checking the web site and nothing. I say DON’T BELIEVE EVERTHING THE GOVERMENT TELLS YOU!!!!!
May 7th, 2008 at 3:00 pm
http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=180250,00.html this is the link with the dates and information for payment schedule the IRS is offering at the moment.
May 7th, 2008 at 3:03 pm
I do also know regular IRS payments are deposited on thursdays only, so maybe stimulus is the same? Anyway we shall see.
May 7th, 2008 at 4:08 pm
melissa:
Thank you for the link. However, it is the same chart of scheduled payments that I listed in the post above on April 1.
May 7th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
Tabitha:
If you husband is the primary on your joint tax return then the IRS will use his number. Primary = the name of the tax payer on the top of the 1040 form.
May 7th, 2008 at 4:14 pm
anita
As BossKitty stated above:
“Everyone whose tax return was finished processing BEFORE April 15 is on the posted schedule.”
This means if you filed after April 15, the deadline, your number will not follow that schedule.
If you filed before or on April 15 then I would call the IRS and find out what the delay is.
May 7th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
angela:
Typing skills have nothing to do with getting your check, they are computer calculated and generate.
You stated:
“website that all direct deposit will be out by may 2. That was a lie, now they say may 9th”
Please link the page where you have found this information of the IRS changing the date of the checks.
May 7th, 2008 at 4:46 pm
Along with the millions of regular tax returns filed there are 10 million to 20 million additional returns filed by some low-income workers, retirees on Social Security, disabled veterans and retired railroad workers that were not previously required to file.
Also Bush’s decision to get the checks out quickly put the scheduled during the tax return season which is the busiest time of the year for the IRS.
The economic stimulus check to taxpayers from our government has been borrowed from other countries including China. So while you are all so eager to get your checks, it is adding Billions to U.S. deficit which taxpayers will be stuck with.
According to the GAO:
IRS estimated that the costs of implementing the economic stimulus legislation may be up to a total of $767 million.
The $767 million is added to the cost of the $152 billion package. That does not account for all the other IRS services that are suffering or being put on the back burner to get the checks out.
May 7th, 2008 at 5:27 pm
I had a friend who is an accountant do my taxes this year and e-file. As in previous years, I just had the fee taken out of my refund, which was direct deposited. Now I’m being told by numerous sources, that doing this causes the IRS to mail a check rather than direct deposit my stimulus payment. Apparently, if the fee is removed from the refund, rather than paid up front separately, a third party bank is involved. They have the direct deposit information and they do the depositing. So now I have to wait until who knows when to see a check. I’m really not excited about this. I’ve also been waiting three months for social security to pay me back over $500 due to an error they made when a relative passed away and I became the sole person on a savings account. (instead of pulling out one social security payment which they mistakenly put into the account, they withdrew two. The money was from my paycheck and they still haven’t paid me back after three months of filling out paperwork!) I don’t trust the system and now I am worried that I will be out the stimulus payment and the other one. That’s over $1100 I can’t afford to not have. I’m really disgruntled right now!!
May 7th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
My ss# ends in 14 and I had my taxes done by a tax preparer with no fees taken out of my refund. I still havent received the refund. I called the irs and they explained to me that my banking info is in their system but a check was being issued on 5/14.long story short she had no explanation and I quote said the whole thing is “a mess”
May 8th, 2008 at 12:50 am
is there an age limit that determines whether or not you get this check?…if so what’s the limit?..if not when am i getting the check..my last digits are 53…am i even getting the check?
May 8th, 2008 at 6:02 am
so now we are ungrateful and to boot we should feel guilty–hey cuz my father was in ww2 and in the normany invasion–my 2 borthers where in vietnam–and my nephew now serves in iraq—i love the red-white and blue buddy—i also love the fact that we can exprees ourselves in a forum such as this—any info that you have provided nytexan has been old and outdated–bosskitty helped me and now im over it–i dont care when my stimulus comes—lessen learned is this —no substitute for sacrifice and hard work-i pay alot of taxes and now i want to be represented–so i reperesent myself—that is my right as an american citizenthere a lot of frustrated people out there and they are not ungrateful just frustrated
May 8th, 2008 at 6:03 am
i apologize for the typo’s
May 8th, 2008 at 6:19 am
if i filed taxes last year but not this year, will i be getting a stimulus check.
May 8th, 2008 at 6:26 am
sandra do not quote me on this okay—-but from what i understand—if you can be claimed on another persons tax return you will not get a rebate—but if you made at least three thousand dollars and you didnt files any return–then go and get a 1040ex–fill out the top with your name-address-and social–and sign it——then write in bold letters across the middle–STIMULUS—AND SEND IT TO THE IRS—you can find the address on where to send it at irs.gov—–it will not come for awhile but you still may get it
May 8th, 2008 at 7:39 am
Low and behold…you think its gonna be here today and now you find out if you used TURBOTAX and took the payment out of your return instead of charging it…you are screwed till late JUNE. Not a RAPIDREFUND but actually just paying the fee to prepare. F#@*!!!!!
May 8th, 2008 at 7:50 am
david that is the situation that i was confronted with too–i assumed and that makes an ass out of you and me—–there are litterally hundreds of thousands of people that this is going to happen to—although some of them dont know it yet–they keep waiting and waiting and waiting and clogging up the irs phones—–the irs and the news media should report or post this most important problem–but since most of the news media is liberal and this will in essence make george bush and the administration look bad–well there is your answer–irs is a beaucracy and they simply dont care–although i do feel sorry for their workers–it will be a tough time for them for the next few month’s–all they have to do it report or post this problem– people will get angry-disgusted–and then guess what they will get over it and get on with their lives—-end of editorial
May 8th, 2008 at 9:08 am
I hear ya Ryan. The bummer is I am a laid off General Motors worker affected by Bush already and his love of the Big Business. We were all looking to this money like most financially strapped families this year, now I guess we wait a little longer. It will definately have me paying the fee by debit card next year. In these times there is no need to feel sorry for the IRS workers…its called job security. Good luck to you all!
May 8th, 2008 at 10:12 am
My last two numbers of my SS# are 94. Originally it was to be deposited May 16 into my account. Then I read it was moved up one week which should be 5/09/08. Can you clarify this?
Thanks,
Susan
May 8th, 2008 at 10:41 am
I am wondering this I filed my taxes thru a e-file service through the Irs that if you made less than like $50k it would be free to file your taxes and I had my money put into my checking acct via direct deposit
Am i gonna get a check or am I gonna get my direct deposit, Im hearing conflicting stories
May 8th, 2008 at 11:21 am
I suggest calling and asking. Hold for 20 minutes and then you’ll know for sure.
May 8th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
I’ve run across alot of different variations of the direct deposit scenerio. Some are saying if you efiled and had fees taken out you are getting a check. The Irs site changes all the time, in bold black letters for at least 2 days it was saying, If you paid for software AND filing fee out of return you were getting a check. Now it’s changed AGAIN! I was curious because we purchased Turbo Tax, installed on pc, and filing was deducted. Turbo is not a RAL and there are no documents to sign for third party bank like Santa Barbara Bank and Trust. I also read somewhere else that even if you efiled using Turbo TAX you should still get direct deposit. On the 1040 plain as day is the DD info. I personally don’t know anyone who has gotten theirs but I know two people who do. Has anyone who previously posted they didn’t recieve theirs get it yet? I ‘ll bet the people that voted for BUSH (although I believe he got in both times by cheating) are probably saying what was I thinking and not just about this fiasco of Stimulus payments but his whole time in office. Anyway won’t rant on that but could someone shed some light if they can?
Thanks.
May 8th, 2008 at 12:56 pm
Just saw Dave’s comment a about six above. I guess I’m screwed. Don’t you just love the lying gov’t.
May 8th, 2008 at 2:06 pm
i am just curious ** i am suppose to be receiveing a paper check by mail , does anybody know how long it normally takes to receive your check after the IRS mails it?

Cat, I think it would take about the same time as if you were getting your tax refund mailed. The only way to speed mail process up is priority and that’s not going to happen.
May 8th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
Cat, I would think since the way things have been going anywhere between 2 to 4 weeks. It’s been several years since I got a paper check.
May 9th, 2008 at 4:31 am
I was just on the IRS site and was checking the status of my stimulus payment and it is still saying information is not available. THis is the week for the second round and I am in that group. Let me share this lttle tid-bit My room mate whom is not getting a stimulus payment put is information in where is my stimullus payment and guess what, it said the informaiton about his payment is unavailable. Why would it say that and he never filed a tax return.that IRS stimulus site is a crock of S@#T. THe IRS is not following any order, they are jumping all over the place. That last 4 digit thing toss it out the window.
May 9th, 2008 at 5:27 am
My first was in the first group, had her refund done on line and received her check last Friday. I am in the second group had my done by H&R Block…. today no check. Dont believe everything you read and only have of what you hear. Is anyone in the second group and got their check today?
May 9th, 2008 at 5:58 am
mike let me say this– it says that my info is not avail. either—why because they dont not enter any data into those banks(computers) until they are ready to process your check or direct debit–so when it says that its not available that doesnt mean that he is getting a check if you did your taxes on line and you used part of your refund to pay the fee you are getting a check—just like me who thought i was getting direct deposit–yes it sucks and iwas very upset when i first found out about it because i wasnt informed of the process that they are using to distribute the rebatesthey left that out—the news media and the irs–
May 9th, 2008 at 5:59 am
I too am in the second group, did turbo tax and still have not recieved anything. My parent were in the first group did turbo tax and recieved there’s last friday.
May 9th, 2008 at 6:41 am
karen— 1.how did you pay for your tax return ?—— 2. did you go and use the irs tool on their website——-where is my stimulus payment ?—enter the info—and if it says they are sorry then your rebate is not scheduled yet—if your paid for your taxes from your refund then you are going to get a paper check—thats sucks i know—try the stimulus tool first though——–
May 9th, 2008 at 7:16 am
I just spoke with a lady at IRS 1-800-829-0922 and if you filed and used direct deposit but received instant money you will be issued a paper check
well I guess that could have made that a little clearer and so many people would not be waiting and upset but oh well you’ll get it when you get it
May 9th, 2008 at 8:27 am
I was wondering if the stimulus payment can be siezed for a debt? Everyone i know got theres today like they were supposed to and according to the schedule we were supposed to get it today and its not here….I’m very worried……HELP!!!
May 9th, 2008 at 9:31 am
I thought I read on here somewhere about the IRS allowing you to change address over the phone at this time just wanted to let you all know I just called to see and they would not allow you have to fill out the form on their website and mail it in.
May 9th, 2008 at 9:32 am
I was supposed to get mine today too, electronically deposited, and it isnt showing up in my acct. I dont have any debts–so I know I SHOULD get mine…so maybe some are taking longer than they should? I made the mistake of COUNTING on getting mine today.
May 9th, 2008 at 9:41 am
I just went to irs.gov and put in my information to find out when my payment will come and they had no information for me—-I did turbotax and direct deposit. I didnt make over the allowed amount. I have 2 kids…..wahhhhhhhhhhhh.
May 9th, 2008 at 10:04 am
if i filed my taxes with turbotax, will that effect the process?
May 9th, 2008 at 10:35 am
I have been tryin to get in touch with the IRS all day today. i suppose they’ve hit a snag with Direct Deposit. My assumption is from the volume of people having the same issue I am having. I am eligible for direct deposit, and it was supposed to post to my account today but didn’t. I’m very curious as to what is going on. I also made the mistake of counting on this rebate. Oh well, I guess we’ll find out when they are ready to tell us.
May 9th, 2008 at 10:36 am
Hello Ryan bills, I think you may have miss understood my commment. My room mate whom DID NOT file any income tax at all for he is not working summited his information on the IRS where is my stimulus payment and the funny thing is it said his information for his stimulus payment was not available. It should have said nothing matches our records. So I say that site is somethime very miss leading. Don Believe the HYPE. stilll the IRS site is a crock of S@#T.
May 9th, 2008 at 10:47 am
I see I’m not the only one that has not received thier stimulus payment today…When I type my info in I also get no information…Leave it to the Government to Scr*w us over once again…

well i didnt not receive mine today….and i ofcoarse also made the mistake of counting on it too! i read on te irs.gov web site that if you paid your filing fees from your tax return you will be getting a mail check…..which for us means not until june 20th! this is what is actual from the website : “If filing or preparation fees were deducted from your 2007 Refund or you received a rapid refund, you will be receiving a check instead of a direct deposit. Please see the Paper Check section of the Payment Schedule.” hope this helps anyone…….
May 9th, 2008 at 11:21 am
Just to let everyone know, there are people getting checks. We did direct deposit and are in the second group (posted for today) and I checked the account this morning, it actually posted Wednesday. There is hope……

May 9th, 2008 at 1:14 pm
Well, no direct deposit for me today either. I filed in March, the last 2 #s of my social are 67, filled everything out right and mailed it in myself, requested direct deposit, and nothing! The link for “Where’s my stimulus payment” tells me there is no specific info on my payment, and the 1-800 # has too many people calling right now (I wonder why?) for my call to go through. So I guess I just have to wait and see what happens. Typical!!
May 9th, 2008 at 2:36 pm
Ok, just talked to someone at the 1-800# and was told they have no info that I ever filed!? Was my tax form lost in the mail? I am going to try filing again, but now how long will it take to get my payment? Has anyone else had this happen?
May 9th, 2008 at 3:06 pm
I spent my lunch hr yesterday trying to get thru to the IRS I was told if you efiled(free filed) you should get direct deposit and If fees were deducted then u get a check. I have also heard several stories on when the last day for direct deposits were. I heard the last ones were today the 9th then I saw on 1 site it was the 12th and I saw the 16th so who knows and when I checked for the wheres my stimulus payment seeing my last 2 is 81 i got the lil error msg
May 9th, 2008 at 3:23 pm
I was supposed to see my money on the 9th of May, so far nothing in my account. Hopefully this weekend or beginning of next week. Leave it to having to wait on the government to give out money.
May 9th, 2008 at 5:25 pm
? has anyone heard about getting a check if u efiled through like hr block, tax act, turbo tax, etc if u had your fees deducted through your refund or if they had the refund credited to their bank acct 1st like a 3rd party situation, if thats the case thats some fucked up shit(excuse my language) I did my refund through like one of the free efile websites through the IRS where i didnt get charged and i got my check direct deposited within 2 weeks So I still dont know how im getting my payment
May 9th, 2008 at 5:45 pm
WE WERE TO HAVE OURS IN OUR CHECKING ACCOUNT ON MAY2 AND HERE IT IS MAY 9TH AND WE STILL HAVENT SEEN OUR’S WHAT IS GOING ON .
May 9th, 2008 at 7:20 pm
Miss Taschie, Yes I filed thru Turbo Tax and had fees taken out. There was no third party bank Turbo Tax states that they have no RAL’s But what I found out when I called IRS is that Turbo Tax is reporting to Gov’t when they submit your info that it IS an RAL. If that’s not a crock of crap on both sides, becaus I read the VP of Turbo Tax said they don’t have RAL’s somewhere. Yet, the Gov’t says that’s how they are reporting them even though gov,t has banking info they are still sending checks. I was told by out great gov,t that you have to take it up with Turbo Tax. I don,t know what Turbo Tax gained by reporting it that way. Does anyone have an idea? I was really counting on that money being deposited today.
May 9th, 2008 at 8:05 pm
I filed with Tax Act so I will be getting a check instead of Direct Deposit…they couldn’t tell us that in the beginning? The Govt must love keeping us in the Dark…
I’m supposed to go on vacation at the end of the month with that money and I’m not going to get it until at least June 20th…I have no idea how I’m going to be able to go now my first vacation in 3 years.
I’m pis*ed
May 9th, 2008 at 8:07 pm
miss taschie:
Your answers to HR Black ,e-file and fees were addresses in previous comments (May 6)
May 9th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
Lisa:
I really don’t think that the government is keeping anyone in the dark about the economic stimulus package.
The IRS has dedicated several web pages to the economic stimulus package, and FAQ section, calculate your stimulus check amount page, an 800 number you can call and several walk in center in every U.S. city.
At least your only waiting for the money for a vacation many need the money to pay for gas and food.
May 9th, 2008 at 10:53 pm
Does anyone know if you get a check if you have ssd? my husband recieved his this week (he has wages) be i did not . i am on ssd are they spliting the checks? my husband and i file a joint return. thanks!
May 10th, 2008 at 12:35 am
my ss ends in 50. i did my taxes via hr block on the internet. i paid the $15 fee with my debit card and i received my payment today..
May 10th, 2008 at 7:00 am
Sherry,
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) does not count as qualifying income for the stimulus payment.
So, yes, the payment was based on your husband’s income.
May 10th, 2008 at 7:11 am
Nicole, “filed thru Turbo Tax and had fees taken out.”
1) When you have the fee taken out of your refund, Turbo Tax presents to the IRS a TEMPORARY ACCOUNT NUMBER that includes your social security number.
2) This temporary account is CLOSED as soon as the transaction is complete, and your refund is deposited into YOUR bank from TurboTax.
3) IRS does NOT have your personal account number. All it has is a CLOSED temporary account.
The banking mechanics of these transactions never interest anyone until an UNEXPECTED Political Event sending payments to TaxPayers happens.
May 10th, 2008 at 7:15 am
To All:
I filed my own taxes via FREE FILE at the IRS Page.
I got my Stimulus Payment Direct Deposited AS ADVERTISED.
May 10th, 2008 at 7:17 am
I filed through Tax Act and received a refund VIA Direct Deposit already, but I won’t get my stimulus by direct deposit? I’m in the second tier of refunds
May 10th, 2008 at 7:20 am
Jason, it all depends on how you paid your fee.
May 10th, 2008 at 11:45 am
I just called the 800# again about my stimulus payment and was told that if you don’t normally file taxes because of disability, retirement etc., & just filed for the stimulus payment that it will take longer to receive than for people who do file taxes. I mailed my tax form in March, and they said it could take 8 to 12 weeks to process through their system. They told me to check back after its been 8-12 weeks since I mailed it. So for people who just filed for the stimulus payment the posted schedule for direct deposits dosen’t apply.
May 10th, 2008 at 11:50 am
Sherry, that could explain why you didn’t receive yours yet and your husband did. And I believe that (SSD) does qualify for the stimulus payment but (SSI) doesn’t. They aren’t the same thing.
May 10th, 2008 at 3:56 pm
MY last two numbers is 04 but look inthe mail box today and it was not there so i think i wont recieve mine until monor teusday did anyone recieve there paper chacks yet
May 10th, 2008 at 4:13 pm
Ashley,
Note: Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is not considered qualifying income and is not included for the purpose of establishing eligibility for the stimulus payment.
There is NO distinction in release dates for Stimulus Payments. That would take additional programming. Everyone is treated the same. There may be issues that could delay processing or cause a payment to be applied to a government debt.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Joe,
Mailed checks do not begin until May 16:
PAPER CHECKS
Last two SSN #: Payments given to the post office
00 through 09 May 16
10 through 18 May 23
19 through 25 May 30
26 through 38 June 6
39 through 51 June 13
52 through 63 June 20
64 through 75 June 27
76 through 87 July 4
88 through 99 July 11
May 10th, 2008 at 5:18 pm
YEAH BUT THEY MOVED THE DATES UP ONE WEEK AND THEY WAS SUPPOSE TO START BEING MAILED OUT YESSTERDAY DID ANY BODY READ ABOUT THAT
May 10th, 2008 at 5:19 pm
Bosskitty, if you re-read my post you will see that I said (SSI) doesn’t qualify but (SSD) Social Security Disability does. They are two seperate things. And I was just repeating what I was told when I called the IRS 800#, that people filing only for the stimulus payments (who don’t normally file taxes) were processed slower than those who do file taxes and include the stimulus payment with there regular tax returns.
If the IRS person I spoke to gave me the wrong info I don’t know. But I sent my tax form in in March, the last 2# of my social are 67, there were no fees (I mailed it in myself) or debts, and I requested direct deposit. So it should of posted to my account yesterday. When I called to ask about it that is what I was told. I just hope it didn’t get “lost in the mail”. That would be just my luck!
May 10th, 2008 at 8:18 pm
my account has been closed, when will i get my refund? it should’ve been in my account on the 5th if i didnt close my account.
May 10th, 2008 at 9:11 pm
Sorry Ashley, I see that you made the distinction, I read too fast and missed that.
My inside source at IRS says there is no different treatment, the only thing that would slow things down is the extra time it takes to set up an account for a first time filer or someone who hasn’t filed in 10 years. I never heard about anything being processed slower … they all go through the same
process.
Li, May 5 was not a Direct Deposit date. Your check was probably mailed on the 9th after your bank refused the deposit. Deposits are made and checks are mailed on Fridays.
Mail outs begin next Friday, May 16. I can’t imagine anyone mistaking the Direct Deposit calendar for the Mail calendar.
Joe, IRS moved the release dates up for the simple tax returns, like 1040EZ forms with ONE W-2. Everyone else is on the published calendar as shown above.
May 10th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
THANK YOU FOR THAT INFO
May 11th, 2008 at 4:17 am
i have read every blog that has come thru here in the last 10 days—alot of frustrated-angry-disenchanted-disgruntled people and yes i was one of them—but i am again reminded not to count on the govt for anything–listen if you cheat on your taxes and you get caught they will get you–they always get their man(or woman) by the same token everybody will get their money in time—god i am to the point where the 1500.00 buckes wasnt worth what i felt and went thru-we live in the greatest nation on earth–how about mynamar—what about those folks?—huh?—my girlfriend got her money–she told me not to pay from my refund but i did anyway–now i have crows feathers sticking out of my mouth
May 11th, 2008 at 6:01 am
Dear Ryan, I have a lot to say about Myanmar on my own Blog.
We are here bithcin’ and moanin’ – look at what these millions of people (human beings) have to put up with. By comparison, we are blessed, they are doomed.
http://truthhugger.com/
We Americans are programmed to look at the near future and expect a lot. We will become wiser to compare what we have (bills and all) compared to other parts of the world.
May 11th, 2008 at 7:07 pm
Ok, granted folks we live in a prosperous nation. However: we do live in America; we do pay taxes; we do work in America and are responsible somewhat for the economic status of the country. So we are entltled to anything that our government wishes to give back, regardless of our citizenship.
We filed an early return as is our practice every year in Febuary, electroncally and have not recieved direct dep. as of yet. So where is it?
People will make u feel guilty for even commenting on getting a refund because of the poor in other countries. When s the last time these people took the time and made sure thesepeople were fed? When’s the last time they sent a check for a substantail amount of cash to feed others while they themselves suffered want here in America.? Many questions, very few answers.
Thanks
Kevin
May 11th, 2008 at 11:07 pm
I am in this group also and I have not seen anything but I’m sorry”
May 12th, 2008 at 12:20 am
How do we know the amount of the check?
May 12th, 2008 at 4:16 am
Hi Cassie, I am in the second group and I filed free taxact with direct deposit and I have not heard or recieved anything as of yet. THe only thing I can say is not to look for you payment to be on time. People from 00-20 and now 21-75 have not gotten their payment as of yet. I wish I could offer you better news. Hopefully you maybe one of those who will get it on time.
May 12th, 2008 at 6:40 am
Well, my last two digits of my SS# is 64, but no refund check was received on May 9, 2008. I did file through Turbo Tax, paid my filing fees by credit card, and did not take a rapid refund loan. What is going on? When I check – Where is my refund link, it comes back without any information regarding the refund. I figure that it an exercise in futility calling the IRS to inquire. Long wait lines and perhaps the same old tired or inconsistent information. Good grief!
May 12th, 2008 at 6:41 am
following up, I did get my tax refund through direct deposit back in Feb. 2008!
May 12th, 2008 at 6:55 am
My daughter got hers friday 9th…dd she fileed with tax act and her # is 39.
May 12th, 2008 at 8:50 am
The IRS is not following any rules they are jumping all over the place. The seem to be jumping 00-20 then to 21-75 and so on. There are people wating for their payments and they could careless. I am sorry for the families and those who have to us this for gas or some other important need. I am grateful for the stimulus payment, Yet the IRS and the Federal Government needs to know what is meant by sticking to a proper SCHEDULE.
May 12th, 2008 at 9:58 am
Question: I owe money to the state due to unemployment benefits that I received while I was working. I did not know that I was suppose to notify the state once I went back to work. Does this mean I will not get a stimulus check since I still owe money to the state?
May 12th, 2008 at 10:40 am
I would like to knowhow do I go about getting my
Thank you!
May 12th, 2008 at 12:08 pm
in an update to my post earlier……………. i originally stated that i was unable to get any info from the stimulus check tool on the irs website. upon checking again around 9 am this morning i was able to get an amount and a deposit date of may 16th, BUT upon checking it again about 30 minutes later it again stated NO INFO, very annoying. i however called the tax rebate hotline and was connected to an automated system that still had the info as the money is to be deposited on the 16th. so im really beginning to think the web tool is unable to handle the number of hits it is getting or they are unable to get the correct up to date info posted…… who knows…. ill guess ill find out come friday
May 12th, 2008 at 12:30 pm
Bella_liz If you filed your taxes jointly and he owes back taxes the check will be taken and all that he owes will be deducted out and the rest will be sent to you only if his taxes does not exceed the amount of the stimulus payment. The IRS will send you a later letting you know of this matter. I hope this will be of help to you.
May 12th, 2008 at 12:34 pm
Michael I think you confused me with another person’s question. My question was about owing money to unemployment and I was wondering if they can hold my check because of that.
May 12th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
Everyone a friendly piece of advice, do not rely on this stimulus payment to pay bills. Act as if you aren’t going to receive the payment. It would be silly to fall behind on a payment, because you were waiting on the check to come. We now know the payment schedule is not accurate, so don’t count on the money at a specific time.
May 12th, 2008 at 12:42 pm
Bella_liz if unemployment has reported this to the IRS your check will be taken and all fees deducted out and the rest will sent to you by check. Sorry for the fonfusion.
May 12th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
Sharon Being that you filed jointly the IRS will take the back taxes out of the check and send you the rest by check. If it is more than the check you will not received stimulus payment. They will send you a letter explaining the reason. Once you filed jointly and it is submitted to the IRS no changes can be made. I hope this helps.
May 12th, 2008 at 1:01 pm
Bella_liz There is a number that you can call that will tell you if you owe any out standing taxes that will delay you payment of it will be taken. The number is 1-800-304-3107. Just follow the instructions.
May 12th, 2008 at 1:27 pm
Thx Michael! That phone number was very helpful. The automated system said I have no debts which means that unemployment has not reported it to the IRS! If and when I get a check, I am def putting a good portion of that towards what I still owe to the State. Thx again! You were very helpful!
I am always skeptical about these blogs but I find that this one has been the most insightful!
May 12th, 2008 at 5:42 pm
Had my tax refund direct deposit and the stimulus package did not come on the due date. Called IRS and they have no idea what is going on. How rediculous. Would have been easier if they just shut up and not give dates. More Gov’t B.S.
May 13th, 2008 at 4:16 am
Hello every body this site is not as busy as it use to be. Is this because you have received your stimulus payment I hope this is the case any way. Spend it wiell and save it you can. Our economy is falling apart. I remember my Grandmother telling me save something for a rainy day. Now I understand what she meant.
May 13th, 2008 at 8:26 am
I was told that this check would be direct deposited to my account. MY fiance ss 20 mine 39. I was told he was round 1 and I was round 2. Round 1 to begin on May 2. It’s May 13th and nothing. Also I see coments on this site about Tax Act. Is it true that I will not get direct deposit? I am pissed!
May 13th, 2008 at 9:04 am
Hello Mandi, If you Us an tax on line tax service and you are paying for it with your refund, your stimulus payment will come by snail mail check.
Read some of the other blogs lot ot people from the first group hasn’t gotten their payment. I’m in the second round it was suppose to be competed may 9th. The IRS is not going by that dam schedule.
It wil come when they are ready for it to come.
May 13th, 2008 at 9:12 am
TO ALL IF YOU WANT TO KNOW THE STATUS OF YOUR STIMULUS PAYMENT THERE IS A NUMBER YOU CAN CALL 1-866-234-2942 WHEN YOU CALL AND A HAVE TO DAY IT WILL TELL YOU BECAUSE OF THE HIGH VOLUME OF CALLS, CALL BACK TOMORROW.
May 13th, 2008 at 7:16 pm
my boyfriend did direct deposit for his taxes in my account and he was to get it by may 9th and did not receive it how much longer dose he have to wait
May 13th, 2008 at 7:38 pm
Tamara, if your boyfriend had his preparation fee taken out of his refund, his Stimulus will be mailed.
When your fee is subtracted from your refund, the preparer gives the IRS their own bank account numbers. Once they have their fee, they direct deposit into your account, then they close the temporary account.
The IRS does not have YOUR account number.
Thats why they have to mail it.
May 14th, 2008 at 3:29 am
Hi Tamara you should check with your financial Instution with regards another person who is not on your account can his stimulus paymet go into your account. For the bank will refuse the payment and it will go backtothe IRS and they will issue him a check.
May 14th, 2008 at 5:52 am
Hi, I also did the RAL with the H&R block card back in Jan. If the IRS tries the acount and the bank refuses it, how long does it usualy take befor the IRS gets the info? And will they mail the check asap, or do they still go by the last numbers of the ss #? Or do already know in the beginning that it’s the bank loan? Thank you. I also heard that if you try the 1 800 #, the info will be in the system 1 week befor your scheduled date to be mailed or deposited, so if there is no info on your rebate, wait about a week befor your date to be mailed and try it then, hopefully there will be info on your rebate. Thank you
Hopefully soon
May 14th, 2008 at 6:36 am
Vicki, you should be on the mail schedule according to your SSN.
Yes, the 1-800# is prompted the same week as the mail out.
May 14th, 2008 at 7:37 am
Thank you nytexan
May 14th, 2008 at 7:42 am
I guess I have a different story.
I filed my taxes with a well known preparer. I owed IRS $200. I mailed a paper check…. on time. IRS cashed it in 1 week.
Where is my stim check??? I can’t see anyone asking a question like this.
Thanks…..this is very interesting!
May 14th, 2008 at 10:10 am
I received a notice from the IRS stating that our economic stimulus payment would be 1500.00. I am an injured spouse and file that way each year. My husband and I filed jointly, I was the only one with income, thus the only one paying taxes and was able to receive my entire refund. My stim. payment was deposited on 5/9, for 750.00. I am from Maine. Because I made the income, and paid the tax, am I entitled to more of the payment? My notice said 1500.00, yet I only received 750.00.
May 14th, 2008 at 11:14 am
Well i live here in Connecticut and one of my co-workers last two digits of there SSI # is 07 and they recived there paper check on tuesday. She too filed her IRS refund throgh H/R Block and she has already recieved her PAPER check so i guess the government has started sending out checks a week before time
May 14th, 2008 at 2:16 pm
i did my return in Jan. and got it back in Feb. It was direct deposited into my account, my last two digits are 53, but i did it with Taxact, will that mean i get it throw paper checks. I called that irs number and that system that they are using told me i want get mine until June 20 and i was wondering why.
May 14th, 2008 at 2:29 pm
Max, if you owed the irs money and sent them a paper check or allowed them to direct debit the money from your account you will be receiving your stimulus check on the MAIL schedule. Checks have started to go out but only few days early so you should still look to see your check around the original mailing date.
Monique, the irs has started to send out paper checks as of last wednesday may 7th which was ahead of schedule so anyone expecting a check may see it a few days early but don’t hold your breathe. There are still people in the 3 direct deposit groups that are looking for their rebates.
Jeremn, If you filed with any tax service and allowed them to collect their fee from your refund then you will not receive your check by direct deposit. By allowing them to collect the fee from your refund as opposed to paying with a credit card the tax service opened up a temporay account to get theri money and then allow you to get the rest. This in turn makes you have multiple direct deposit accounts at your refund deposit time and the irs is not making direct deposits in this case. They will mail it out according to the mailing schedule. This applies to tax act, turbo tax, h/r block, jackson hewitt, etc, etc.
May 14th, 2008 at 3:05 pm
The whole thing with the Stimulus paymenst has turn out to be one hellish nightmare. There are so many questions and very little answers from the IRS. Those that have received theirs have disappeared from this site so they are happy. Yet the are countless others that have not. Explanation for this none. I am in the second wave and I ask for direct deposit and till this day nothing.The site keeps saying information for your payment is unavailable. I was angry pissed off and the whole nine yeards. Until I came to my senses and saw things for what they are. I have no control over what the IRS is doing I can’t change any thing that they are doing things as they please. I bet you they got their stimulus payments.: ( I want mind to come to, it will come when it comes. I wish all you peace in the middle of this madness.
May 14th, 2008 at 3:20 pm
ok well this past year was my first time filing, which shouldnt matter i made the money filed my taxes, the works. The last two of my SSN are 45 i was supposed to recieve my 1200.00 on friday the 9th, and here it is the 14th and still no check? i filed married jointly, and it was direct deposited. i have been reading things like” well if you used turbo tax…” and you paid a fee you will be getting a paper check. Well i wonder when i will be recieving my check.
May 14th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
i even work in a bank and you can usually see things that are coming in that night at midnight or things that are scheduled to come in, and guess what… there is nothing there. The IRS makes all these promises about the money being direct deposited “no later than” this date but then states a few lines down that it may take up to two weeks… so?? and yeah every time i put in my information it says that have no answers, and when you call them, it says the best way to find anything out is by looking on their web site. Well guess what the FAQ arent answering my question….. “Wheres my stimulus check? Its late”
May 14th, 2008 at 4:12 pm
When can I expect my check?
May 14th, 2008 at 4:54 pm
well you should reieve your check a week before schedule. hopefully
check the irs website where my refund and then check in where my stimulus payment and put in the necessary info and if your info comes up then your check you know is on the way i pulled up my info as well as my best fiend and are info is on its way so at least you can have an ideal of when it is coming
May 14th, 2008 at 5:08 pm
Here is a summary of some things that may be helpful to answer the questions being asked on here…….
The schedule posted at the top of this page and on the irs website are accurate mail by date for tax returns that were received, accepted, and processed by april 15th. Anyone who filed close to the end of tax season may have not been processed by april 15th and in that case in can take an extra 2 weeks or more to receive your rebate check.
If you allowed a tax preparer to take its fees directly from your refund you are NOT eligble for direct deposit of your rebate check and will receive it by mail based on the rebate mailing schedule.
Information on the irs website and rebate hotline is accurate for the week they are in, therefore its a good chance you will not be able to get your rebate status until 5 to 7 days before its due to be sent
May 14th, 2008 at 5:30 pm
i was wondering, if i would still get my rebate check back i know i qualify but i didnt get my w-2′s sent to me..and i have been so busy that i just noticed. would i still qualify for the bonus rebate check?
May 14th, 2008 at 7:19 pm
I have not received my check, last # are11
May 14th, 2008 at 7:20 pm
I have not received my check, last # are11 I want to be notified
May 14th, 2008 at 8:42 pm
The mail by date for ss# 11 is May 23rd, although checks are being mailed early it still may not make it to you until or after the due date. Try 1-800-829-1040 or 1-866-234-2942 if they are not experiencing high call volumes you will get an automated system, listen to the prompts and choose the one for rebate status. Also try http://www.irs.gov and use the wheres my stimulus rebate tool. If none of these options can provide you with the information you seek and you assigned due date has past, call back and wait for a human operator to pick up and explain your situation and they should be able to help.
May 15th, 2008 at 1:42 am
Hello Darlene, Depending on how you filed will determine when your rebate will come. You gave very little information. Check the IRS site where is my stimulus payment or call this number and follow the infotmation 1-866-234-2942. Good Luck.
May 15th, 2008 at 1:49 am
Hello Lauren Yes you have until October 15th of this year to file for the Stimulus payment. The sooner you get it in the better. Your rebate won’t follow the stimulus paynment schedule. Even though that seems to be a lost cause.
May 15th, 2008 at 1:58 am
Cassie, I beg to differ with you on that comment. There are people who filed January and February and their SS# 00-20 some still have not gotten their stimulus payment due to no fault of their own. If you want to beleive this shedule do so by all means. My personal opinion that schedule is a crock of s@*T. I have never seen such disoranization.
May 15th, 2008 at 5:43 am
Hi, Ok , now I am realy confused, I just went to a different site, and a rep there from H&Rblock, said that if filing jointly (a married couple) They go by the first 2 digits of the SS#. Does anyone know if this is true? Maybe this is why others are getting there’s earlier than expected? I also seen a while back , that it was like this, but wasn’t for sure. There are so many different stories. I just keep checking my mail everyday, never know when it will be there. Good luck everyone, hopefully soon.
May 15th, 2008 at 7:09 am
Oh Maybe I read it wrong, I think it meant the first SS# listed on the return. I don’t know, Sometimes the wording can look different. maybe I was hopeing it was the first 2 digits, I think this whole thing has got me in a frazzled mind..lol I will just sit and wait untill june 20th, untill then I will pay my bills with what we have, and not count on it, untill it’s there in the mail.
May 15th, 2008 at 9:47 am
Ok…so when are the people who are are waiting on the child support stimulus supposed to get theirs? My ex is 20k in arrears. The last digits of his social are 61. I got his tax money already. So when do they send the money for back child support? I could really use this. I cannot recieve the stimulus check (since I no longer live in the US) and every website I have seen does NOT state when these will be sent out. I am not being greedy but after 8 years not one dime and now I am getting something. Curiousity killed the kitty (meow) and I would like to know if anyone has seen anything on that. Thank you!
May 15th, 2008 at 10:53 am
Hello Vicki, when you file jointly they go by the first persons SS# on the tax form. And it is the last two digits of your SS# that the IRS goes by.
May 15th, 2008 at 11:34 am
Well once again.. the irs website says that they will be depositing money everyday… well it is thursday the 15th, i was supposed to get my check the 9th and it still isnt here yet.!!! theres goes my vacation. i was supposed to be leaving saturday to go to hatteras for a week because i “knew” my check was coming, well guess what it isnt here and now i must sit on my butt all of next week and not go have fun!!! Figures, and i leave for boot camp in a few months! of course!
May 15th, 2008 at 11:54 am
We were supposed to receive our payment by last Friday, and it still isn’t here. We’ve clicked the link to “where’s my stimulus payment” and filled in the info and it says that it has no information. I’m also aware that there are people who haven’t received their payments yet and they should have already got it. That’s extremely infuriating. I have thought that this was a hoax the whole time and I am not happy at all. I understand that there are always going to be glitches, but instead of putting up a drop calender, they should have stated that you would get your payment sometime this summer…
Is this for real? Or is this just a big lie?
May 15th, 2008 at 12:23 pm
Re: nichole…..
I just wanted to say…yes i understand that you are supposed to go on vacation…. but that can be postponed…. whatabotu people that really NEED THAT money??? ……its so not something to bitch about…. I am 6 months pregnant and have two children and am moving across the country in less than two weeks and that was supposed to be part of my moving money…. yeah the first day i was upset, but ya know what i can some how figure a way around it…..what about all the people that just lost there jobs???? i know that homedepot (because work there) just layed off like 5,000 in the last 3 months and closed 15 stores…thats more jobs…what about people who have NO FOOD in there fridge and gas in there car??? all i have to say is quit whining and screw your vacation you can do it later….just be thankful for what you have!!!! i am…..
May 15th, 2008 at 12:23 pm
Thanks Michael,
I will keep you posted if I do, or If I get mine.
I kind of new I was reading it Wrong…like I said my mind is frazzled over this. Sorry for the ones who havn’t gotten there’s yet , and should have already, I know what to expect when mine is supposed to be in mail. *sighs* I wish I could answer any questions, but I have idea myself. I don’t know of anyone personally, who has received there check or DD. Thanks
May 15th, 2008 at 12:25 pm
Sorry …no idea myself^
May 15th, 2008 at 12:29 pm
Re:Melody…
Actually, thats not what the money was being used for, i am actually about to get evicted from my home because i was using that check for my rent payment… i am very thankful for what i have, i wasnt about to put all my business on the internet, and this forum or “blog” is not here to make people argue about who needs the money more than soemone else, that fact is that the government said we are supposed to get this money by a certain day and we are all on here for the same reason we haevnt gotten it… what ever the use of the money is it is still money we are all counting on and we havent recieved it so we are upset! Calm down! there is alot going on in my life as well but im not going to argue about it on the internet! i just cant wait until i get my check! then we will all stop bitching!
May 15th, 2008 at 1:07 pm
well i am sorry to hear about that….. i have been in that position my self so i know how ya feell….. the simple point was why bitch about a vacation….. u could just say you need it….like the rest of us dooo…. i think this whole this is justa mess and has got all of us not thinkin straight……i mean why should we count on OUR govmt right???? ahhhh i will just be glad when this whole thing is said done and over with!
May 15th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
Bosskitty, IRS does have my bank info it is on my 1040 return. I checked with them. They said Turbo Tax reported it as RAL. That’s why Iam getting a check.
May 15th, 2008 at 2:15 pm
well i work at a bank and more and more people are relaying to me that if you used any type of filing help… ie turbo tax… H&R block… that you will recieve a paper check and that we dont qualify for direct deposit. I dnot understand why, but that is the information that i am being told. The IRS has no answers either. Its not like you can actually call some one and talk to them and find out why you havent gotten your money yet… its all just very frustrating!
May 15th, 2008 at 3:16 pm
Nichole, Using any of the tax services like turbo tax H&R block you can get you stimulus payment direct deposit. The only way this will not happen is if you had the fee for service take out of your refund, then you will get a paper check. If there is a glitch in these tax services filing this is the first that I have heard. The IRS themselves says to get your refund quicker to do direct deposit. Go by what the IRS is saying for now. Hope this helps.
May 15th, 2008 at 7:18 pm
What Congress and the president are doing is unprecedented. Imagine having a few months to plan sending out billions of dollars to millionsof different people, each with potentially different situations. I hope those who are counting on their check get it soon. I know lots of us need help and counted on teh government to do what it promised. For those complaining about the government being inept . . . vote,and then don’t complain.
May 16th, 2008 at 5:59 am
Today is May 16th, I haven’t received my direct deposit as of yet. My son received his direct deposit last Friday. My last 2 digits of my ss# is 91.
May 16th, 2008 at 6:41 am
I havent received mine either ss#77!!!
May 16th, 2008 at 7:25 am
Hello, I seen on the News from my home town, that if you did not receive the $300 per child that qualify, in your rebate, they will be issuing checks in July to the ones that didn’t. I looked to see if any information was on any other News, but didn’t see anything about this information. I will let you no more if I hear of anything else. I hope this is helpful.
May 16th, 2008 at 8:00 am
Does anyone know if the IRS updates their “Where’s my Stimulus Payment” in terms of whether or not a check has already been mailed? Or will it continue to say “Scheduled to be mailed on blah-blah-blah?”
Our SSN’s last 2 are 07 … but unlike another poster’s friend, we’ve not seen ours yet.
May 16th, 2008 at 8:23 am
For those who are expecting their rebate TODAY via Direct Deposit and haven’t gotten their payment yet, don’t lose hope!
Our bank will often sit on EFTs for up to 48 hours. Just because the IRS transmitted the EFT to your bank doesn’t mean it will be there on that day — your bank can sometimes take time to process the deposit.
Not all banks take long — some are quick and post immediately. Some don’t though.
May 16th, 2008 at 8:27 am
Why is everyone so angry? the IRS didn’t have to give us any stimulus. Just be grateful that they are.
May 16th, 2008 at 8:57 am
Michael:
Yes that was helpful, unfortunetly it looks like i will be recieving a paper check. Like i had stated earlier this past tax season was my first year filing all on my own, i didnt have anyone telling me not to let turbo tax take the money from my refund, but i still dont under stand why you dont qualify for direct deposit? i had my check deposited in my account, but i had the fees taken from my check, well i guess i wont be seeing any money until june…..
Thanks for your help!
May 16th, 2008 at 9:03 am
Nichole, when the service that allowed you to take the prep fee out of your refund submitted your return to the IRS, they made sure to get THEIR money first (the fee you let them take out) … from there, the money is transferred by THEM into your account.
Basically, they gave the IRS another account number (THEIR bank account number) to deposit your refund into, and then simply transferred what was left to your bank account.
I don’t know if I explained it well …
And BTW, I’m in the same boat as you are, Nichole! :/
May 16th, 2008 at 10:31 am
I happened on this site looking for info on my stimlus payment and it seems to be the most helpful.
My question: I filed my taxes in Feb. using Taxact.com. Our federal return was efiled for free, but we did pay a fee for our state return, which was deducted from our state refund. Both refunds were direct deposited. Since the federal was free, will we still get our rebate by direct deposit? We’re suposed to get it today and there’s nothing there yet.
Also, I got married last sept. but didn’t change my name until recenty. (I wasn’t looking foward to waiting in line at the social security office.)
As a result, we filed married filing jointly, but still used my maiden name because that was what was on my SS card. Now my SS# is under my married name. Will this cause mass confusion at the IRS? (My bank still accepts checks and such that happen to be made out to my maiden name, so it won’t matter to them what name it is under.)
May 16th, 2008 at 3:58 pm
ALERT, On channel 6 News this evening they said that the IRS has dposited 150 stimulus checks into the wrong accounts. Isn’t this a scream. I hope this isn’t someones payment here.
May 16th, 2008 at 7:13 pm
1,500.00 rebate checks were wired to the bank accounts of people who already received their payment or other who were not entitled to the money.
News Day Cited a man in Long Island found an unexpected $1,800.00 in his bank account. The man checked with his bank and found out the deposit belonged to someone with a different SS#.
May 16th, 2008 at 7:27 pm
Okay, I checked the status of my stimulus check based on the last two of my SSN (28) and was notified that it should be posted to my account no later than the 14th. Now, when I check the system (irs.gov) it says that it has no record of my information! What’s going on??
May 16th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
I was jjust wodering how do w know if we get he stimulus thing or not
May 17th, 2008 at 2:25 am
Hi Rhonda, The IRS site I think gives that informion once for the is a high volume of people checking for their stimulus payments. Call this number and see if it is still giving you the same information as the IRS.gov site. 1-866-234-2942. Yesterday on channel 6 news 1,500 stimulus payments were wired to wrong accounts. I hope yours wasn’t one.
May 17th, 2008 at 2:29 am
Hello Angela, You can go to the IRS site and use their calulator to check to see if you are eligible for a stimulus payment. http://www.irs.gov hope this will be helpful.
May 17th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
May 17th, 2008 at 8:56 pm
Anonymous, your check will be mailed according to the published schedules. Last digits ’80′ = July 4
May 17th, 2008 at 8:59 pm
but i had my tax return direct deposited into my account
May 17th, 2008 at 9:00 pm
Nichole, if your preparation fee was deducted from your refund, the IRS does not have your bank information.
IRS will only have the temporary account number provided by the service you used. That account is closed as soon as the transaction is complete.
Thats why your payment must be mailed.
May 17th, 2008 at 9:02 pm
“I was jjust wodering how do w know if we get he stimulus thing or not”
Angela, if you can use the internet, you can go to the IRS web page, click on ABOUT THE STIMULUS and use the calculator. It helps if you have your 2007 tax return in hand.
You should know by now if you qualify.
SS# ends in #07, got the letter saying we should get $ but no check in the mail, is it due to snail mail? The letter came from Atlanta and I’m in Iowa.
May 19th, 2008 at 1:13 pm
My SS# ends in 01 and still no notice nor check in mail. How long does it take to get here?
May 19th, 2008 at 3:21 pm
HELLO EVERYONE ALERT ALERT ALERT ALERT!!! THE IRS ADMITTED THEY WIRED 1,500 REBATE CHECKS INTO BANK ACCOUNTS OF PEOPLE WHO ALREADY RECIEVED THEIR PAYMENT OR OTHERS WHO WERE NOT ENTITLED TO THE MONEY.
NEWS DAY CITED A MAN IN LONG ISLAND FOUND $1,800.00 DEPOSITED INTO HIS BANK ACCOUNT. HE NOTIFIED HIS BANK AND FOUND THE DEPOSIT BELONGED TO SOMEONE WITH A DIFFERENT SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER.
POTENTIALLY MILLIONS OF TAXPAYERS EXPECTING TO HAVE THEIR MONEY WILL BE WAITING FOR THEIR CHECKS UNITL JUNE OR JULY.
May 19th, 2008 at 3:29 pm
May 19th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
I never got a letter back in March like everyone did saying that they qualify for a payment. Does this mean I won’t get one? Every IRS website I’ve checked said i qualify, I have a vailid ssn and I filed taxes. Why wouldn’t I? I’ve tried calling the IRS twice, it all seems automated though. Any ideas?
I filed through HRblock online and got direct deposit, my last two digits of my ssn is 50.
I never got a letter like most saying I qualify? How do I know?
May 19th, 2008 at 4:32 pm
IF YOU DID YOUR TAKE RETURN VIA EFILE AND CHOSE TO HAVE THE FEES PULLED FROM YOUR REFUND THEN YOU WILL HAVE A CHECK MAILED TO YOU NOT DIRECT DEPOSITED.
May 19th, 2008 at 4:40 pm
yes that’s correct Missymouse47 if you filed you taxes online and had your fees deducted out of your IRS refund you will recieve a check
May 20th, 2008 at 2:39 am
PM EDT IF YOU HAVE YOUR HOPES SET ON A BIG ECONOMIC STIMULUS ARRIVING IN YOUR BANK ACCOUNT ANY DAY NOW, YOU MIGHT HAVE TO WAIT ABIT LONGER.
SOME REPORTS BLAME THIS PROBLEM ON A COMPUTER GLITCH THE IRS SAYS THAT IT CAN’T NECESSARILY PIN THE ISSUE ON A COMPUTER PROBLEM.
CHECK ANY PAYMENTS RECEIVED CAREFULLY TO MAKE SURE THEY’RE ACTUALLY YOURS. IF YOU RECIEVED A CHECK OR INACCURATE (OR DUPLICATE) DIRECT DEPOSIT YOU ARE REQUIRED BY LAW TO MAIL THE CHECK BACK TO THE IRS AND/OR REPORT THE ISSUE TO YOUR BANK. iF YOU SPENT THE MONEY YOU’LL HAVE TO PAY IT BACK AS WELL.
THE IRS SAID 350,000 HOUSE HOLDS AREN’T GETTING PROPERLY CREDITED FOR CHILDREN IN THE PAYMENTS. MAKE UP CHECKS WILL BE SENT OUT IN JULY. THE IRS CONFIRMED THE NUMBER OF PAYMENTS WRONGLY PUT INTO BANK ACCOUNTS IS NOT 15,000 BUT 1,500.
May 20th, 2008 at 4:02 am
Thank you for the info Michael.
THE IRS AND THESE STIMULUS PAYMENTS IS A UTTER DISASTER. YOUR PAYMENT WILL COME ONE DAY, I WISH THERE WERE A BETTER ANSWER TO GIVE. I WAS IN THE SECOND ROUND AND HAVE NOT GOTTEN A THING.
ONE DAY YOU WILL GET YOUR PAYMENT, WHEN THE IRS STOPS F***KING UP.
Those of you getting checks … I think a lot of it depends on mail times … I’ve got my fingers crossed for you all!!!
May 21st, 2008 at 7:58 am
I am scheduled to get a paper check on June 6th. It was originally suppose to be direct deposit because that is how my income tax was done. I have not received a notice in the mail yet from the IRS like everyone is saying that they got. Does everyone have to receive this prior to getting their money? And also I have a child who is 17 and who qualifies on my income taxes. But yet I read that if they turned 18 prior to Jan. 01, 08 then they aren’t eligible. But when you do the figures they ask you how many eligible people you claimed on your income tax not qualifying children born after Jan. 01, 08. Does anyone know which it is. When I do the calculator for the check rebate it says that I will get 600.00. Which is 300.00 for myself and 300.00 for her. BUt when I go to another site to figure it says it has to be a qualifying child born after 1/1/08. Please if anyone knows any of this let me know. Thanks.
May 21st, 2008 at 10:42 am
My fiance’ got his check Monday and his last digits are 10. He also got the notice in the mail he was getting a check the very same day.
May 22nd, 2008 at 4:01 am
Hi Donna, if you owe back taxes, school loans or back child support, your check will be taken. If your back taxes does not exceed the amount of your check you will get the rest by check. You can call this number to see if there is any out standing taxes that will affect your payment. 1-800-304-3107. Good Luck.
May 22nd, 2008 at 8:58 am
Bekka: If I’m not mistaken, if your dependent child turned 17 by or before Dec 31, 2007, you are not eligible for the additional $300 for that child.
I don’t know why they included that stipulation — seems to me that if you have a teenager living at home, you need all the $$ you can get!!
May 22nd, 2008 at 11:19 am
TO EVERYONE WHOM DID NOT GET PROPERLY CREDITED FOR THEIR QUALIFYING CHILD THE IRS SAID 350,000 HOUSE HOLD AREN’T GETTING PROPERLY CREDITED FOR CHILDREN IN THEIR PAYMENTS. MAKE UP CHECKS WILL BE SENT OUT IN JULY. THIS IS ONLY IF Y OUR CHILD MET THE IRS GUIDE LINES FOR A QUALIFYING CHILD.
MANY PEOPLE SPENT MONEY THINKING THAT THEY WOULD HAVE THEIR STIMULUS PAYMENT BY THE DATE THE IRS GAVE. WHAT EVER YOU DO DON’T BANK ON THE GOVERNMENT TO BE ON TIME WITH ANYTHING. NEVER SPEND MONEY THAT IS NOT IN YOUR BANK ACCOUNT.
WITH THE MONEY I HAS ON HAND I PAID ALL MY BILLS FIRST. IF I HAD RELIED ON MY STIMULUS PAYMENT I WOULD BE BEHIND. I AM IN THE SECOND ROUND AND HAVE NOT SEND NOTHING AS OF YET. THE SITE KEEPS SAYING INFORMATION IS NOT AVAILABLE.
I HOPE YOU WILL NEVER RELY ON THE GOVERNMENT FOR THEY WILL HAVE YOU LIFE ALL SCREWED UP.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE.
May 26th, 2008 at 5:55 pm
OK ya’ll. About the PAYOUT SCHEDULE, the published schedule is for tax returns that completed processing before April 15. The mail out date is when your check is handed to the post office, along with several tons of other checks. The post office must sort and deliver those checks. That could take all weekend and into the following week.
As far as those checks that had to mail because of preparer intervention, the address they put on the tax returns are sometimes not accurate, The post office will not forward government checks. They will send checks back for any discrepancy.
If you filed later than April 15, your stimulus payment will follow your refund by 2 weeks.
Forget the schedule. Forget the famous letter … some will get it and some won’t. Most will get their letter after they get their payment.
May 27th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
I never changed my Social Security Card to my married name and now the IRS website is saying that I may have to file for the refund on my 2008 taxes. Is there anything else I can do?
hey how you guys and gails doing well me i’m very mad cause my last two digits is 04 but i moved since i filed out forward mail card at the post office but i have not recieve my check yet do i need to fill out a change of address form with irs to or just with post office if i need to fill out a change of address with the irs can anybody tell me what form that is
thank you
Joe
May 27th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
If your address has changed you gotta tell the IRS because the
post office will send your check back.. They don’t forward government checks. The first thing you should always do is fill out the post office address change form. They update IRS in about 3 weeks.
May 27th, 2008 at 7:51 pm
Erica did your mom get a paper check or direct deposit? How did you file?
May 29th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
If you used Turbotax – Please read the below notice
Stimulus Rebate – Direct Deposit info not flowing to IRS when taxes owed
Updated: 5/15/2008
Article ID: 6272
We are currently investigating an issue with Stimulus Rebate Payments being sent via check when you selected to have the money directly deposited into your account.
This seems to be happening in error when the following conditions are met:
1. You owed the IRS a tax liability
2. You asked to have your rebate stimulus payment directly deposited into your account
3. Contacting the IRS results in finding out a check will be sent because the account information was not received
Ido not owe any taxes. on ss and filed this year only for stimulus paynent. I mailed 1040A mar 27, 2008. IRS site says no information available. Should have had direct deposit on may 16. Irechecked copy and everything is correct. Please help.
I have been recently informed that citizens with the ending digits of 01 received their payments. If this is true, then this mean citizens with the ending digits of 90 would probably ever receive theirs. [Date: May 30, 2008 Time: 5:31p.m.] Rumor has it that there are mistakes which occured with the government in funds made payable to individuals. I am unsure that this would be valuable in the end because eventually it would have to be paid back. (But I want my CHECK)
May 30th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
Hi Carl, I filed for my stimulus payment on March 31st and I thought I would have my payment by May 9th. Though you mailed your tax retrun off on March 27th when did the IRS get it and how long did it take for them to prcess your return. If it was not processed before April 15th your payment will be a little late and not according to the schedule. I just got mine direct deposit Firday May 30th and I e-filed March 31st. It will come one of these good days. Good luck.
Hello Joseph, The post office will not forward a government check they will send it back to the IRS. The form you need to fill out is form 8822. You can down load it from the IRS site http://www.irs.gov. Hope this was helpful.
May 31st, 2008 at 5:37 am
Chayntina L. Johnson, as you can see above on the chart, if your last 2 numbers are ’90′ and payment is to be mailed, it will be mailed on July 11.
If you used a paid preparer (H&R, Jackson Hewitt, Liberty, etc.) most likely IRS does NOT have your Direct Deposit information and your payment must be mailed.
BTW, the Post Office updates IRS with changed addresses, but it could take several weeks. IRS can change your address by phone THIS YEAR ONLY if you tell them its for the Stimulus Payment.
BTW2, If you have not filed a return in many years, IRS must establish an account for your tax return. This adds 2 weeks to the process that is already bogged down. Normally, mailed tax returns take 6 to 8 weeks to process and release a refund … right now, it is taking 8 to 10 weeks.
BTW3, if you are corresponding with IRS about anything (Amended Returns, Tax Questions, disputes, Injured Spouse, etc.), your refund will be held until the correspondence is completed.
BTW4, if your check is mailed, IRS gives your check to the Post Office on the published date above. After that, its the Post Office who has your check. Always check with them first.
BTW5, the web site inquiry (irs.gov) and refund Hotline (800-829-1954) phone numbers will NOT have your information available until the very week it will be sent. Again, the process is bogged down and is taking longer than expected.
I am a full time student, and therefore I didn’t work in 2007 (I was a graduate student abroad for the year). However, I have worked and earned at least the required income level every other year for the last several years. Will my 2006 income qualify me for the stimulus check? Also, my “income” for 2007 was entirely through student loans. Is it possible for me to file a tax return now (I haven’t filed one yet) with my student loans as income in order to qualify for the stimulus check?
June 1st, 2008 at 11:34 pm
I am so confused…I received a special mailing telling me to fill out the special tax form to receive stiulus check. I am disabled and haven’t filed since 2000. I assume my tax return was not processed by April 15. I have been checking Where is my Stimulus Payment every day and tonight I finally got info that my return had been processed and I would be receiving $600 in my account on June 6. When I decided to check again a few hours later I got a message “we have no info…” Since I filed a joint return I checked my husband’s SSN. I got the same message about receiving $600 on June 6 by direct deposit. Do they only show this message once? Because I checked my husband’s account one more time and got “we have no info…”
Then I read on one website that the IRS was finished processing direct deposits. I am not in the US right now and dont want to have to pay to wait on hold at the IRS 800 number. Anyone have any information on these deposit dates appearing and then disappearing? Could it be too many people checking the website? Thanks if anyone can help. My number is 74 and I sure could use this money to buy gas and medicine!
June 2nd, 2008 at 10:18 am
Question, when I go to the IRS website it says I should get $600 based on my SS #. But according to the calculator on the site it says $900. Has anyone else come across this? I haven’t recieved the actual check yet. Just wondering why it woudl be different.
BTW, I don’t owe any taxes or any sorts to the IRS.
Hey nicole, ya they both got a paper check
June 2nd, 2008 at 1:02 pm
My SS# comes up in the batch that should be receiving checks this week. Well I just know was able to get through to someone at the IRS and it seems my return is still in processing. I filed in early April and the check I sent was cashed by the IRS and cleared my bank before April 15, but it looks I will still be waiting a while for my stimulus check. So for anyone that filed close to April 15 its going to be a few more weeks before you get your check.
My wife and I recieved our notice that our stimulus check is on the way. We noticed that the tax preparer did not put our sons tax credit on line 52 of 1040 but did put it on line 68 of said schedule which reduced our check to 900.00 instead of 1300.00, how do we go about getting the correct amount due and also what happened to couples filing joint returns getting 1200.00, when we did the calculator you made available our figures were 1500.00 with our 11yr olds child credit and the amount we made . Thank you for any comments you can make that can help us!
June 5th, 2008 at 11:33 pm
By our ssn#, our check will be sent out on the 4th of July. Obviously the mail or any government offices will be open that day. What day will they be sent out?
June 6th, 2008 at 3:22 am
Hi Stacie, Genterally when a government check release date falls on a holiday, It will come the business day before the holiday. Now I’m guessing for thats what they do with Social Security checks. To get the best answer call the IRS directly. 1-800-829-1040
I work but my husband is disabled. Will we get the 300 for him as well as the 600 for me? Or will we have to file another return for him
June 8th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
laura, if you filed a joint 2007 tax return and declared his ssa income, you get $300 per taxpayer and child under 16 years . Anything more you get depends on how much tax remained after your credits were applied.
Hello, I received my letter yesterday the 16th of June. I am scheduled for my check June 20th. It has been on the web sight for a week. The letter stated, I will get it by the 20th of June, and the web sight says, it will be mailed on June 20th. Also the letter was dated for the 16th and I got it on the 16th. Their was no post date on the envelope, so I am not for sure how long it takes. My Mother and my friend, received their checks a few days after they got the letter. I will post when I get it. Hello,
I’ve been looking everywhere for some sort of answer but can’t seem to find anything ..
I filed a return back in Feb… come to find out what got transmitted to the IRS was no wages.. nothing!! So I filed an amended return in March.. received my return on May 13..
When I check the IRS “where’s my refund” it says I’m not eligible because I did not make enough.. is that just going by my original?? My amended is completly different.. When should I expect my stimulus ?!? Since I did make well over the $3,000 just to be eligible for the rebate.
If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated.. I’ve tried calling but I just don’t have time to sit for an hour and wait for someone to talk to.
Thanks!
June 26th, 2008 at 6:21 am
Amanda, You will be able to recover your stimulus payment on your 2008 tax return. IRS will not calculate your stimulus on an Amended Tax Return. They ONLY calculate it on the ORIGINAL return they receive. Provisions are made to include unassessed Stimulus Payments on 2008.
June 27th, 2008 at 7:10 am
Was supposed to receive stimulus check on June 20 based on SS 53. Have not received. Mailed return 2 weeks before deadline, owe gov nothing,etc.Can I check on status anywhere ? THANKS
June 27th, 2008 at 7:18 am
Jerry, http://www.irs.gov and 1-800-829-1040 are your best bets. FYI: If your return was for Stimulus Only, it may still be processing. Call IRS and be patient. They will confirm that they actually have your return. If you filed electronically, check to make sure they accepted it. If your address is correct and they have a problem, they will send you a letter.
my father-in-law got a letter saying his would be mailed out by the 13th of june. still no check. what are some possibilities of a hold-up
July 20th, 2008 at 9:16 am
judith jones, Form 8379 for Injured Spouse will take additional time to process and recover your half of the refund. The IRS is swamped with these cases and running WAY behind. Normally it would take 8 to 10 weeks after your tax return finishes processing. Now, it takes 10 to 12 weeks.
Be patient, it will come. Just do the math. How long ago did you file? Electronic = 13 to 14 weeks. Mailed in = 16+ weeks.
Patricia, Please, never give out your SSN over the internet. If you are smart enough to use the internet, you are smart enough to know that your SSN will be stolen and used and you will become a victim.
You have the ability to go to the IRS web page:
http://www.irs.gov or call IRS and be patient 1-800-829-1040 are your best bets.
Last numbers 97 were mailed on July 11. That date is only good for returns processed before April 15.
July 20th, 2008 at 5:32 pm
Anonymous, there are several possibilities for a delay.
1. There was a problem processing the return. The IRS will send a letter.
2. The address on the return was wrong. The IRS may be trying to contact you or mail a check.
3. The IRS never got the return. Electronic returns are notorious for rejecting because of a minor glitch. You never know if you don’t check your email for a conformation from the IRS.
July 21st, 2008 at 9:24 pm
Josephine, The IRS put your check in the mail on July 11 – they want you to allow the post office 2 weeks before you think its lost. Also, make sure your address is correct on you tax return. The post office won’t forward it.
July 22nd, 2008 at 8:13 pm
l RECEIVED MY STIMULUS CHECK AT MY OLD ADDRESS. I CALLED BECAUSE MY CHECK WAS RETURNED, THEY ARE SAYING THAT I HAVE TO WAIT A WHOLE MONTH BEFORE THE IRS SEND ANOTHER ONE. ITS NOT FAIR !
I bet your check was returned because your 2007 tax return has a different address. The post office will never forward Treasurt Department checks.
Don, she needs to check with IRS. If she sent something (letter or amendment) to IRS her account may be frozen until her issue is addressed.
Just incase any of you are waiting for your ex-dead-beat-rats stimulus check, mine was deposited into my account last week. I was only expecting $600 but instead recieved $1200. (Dept of rev said he filed a single not a joint return.) It helps going to the 18k arrears he still owes.
So all you moms (and dads) that are waiting and have not recieved it yet…it will be coming!!
This must be one of the most informative ‘blogs regarding the stimulus!
We file form 8379 every year, and efile with a request for direct deposit. To confirm what you posted earlier, it has always taken about eight weeks from the file date, but this year it took almost exactly ten, since the IRS is so backed up. We filed online and had the filing service fees taken out by the e-preparer; this meant our refund was wired to this third party and then wired to us (all went well and didn’t take any extra time). I understand that the stimulus check should be mailed only after the refund is released from injured spouse review. THE QUESTION: Does anyone have an idea how long it takes after a refund is direct-deposited for the stimulus check to process and be mailed? I know the IRS is slammed and don’t want to waste their time or mine if anyone else can share their experience. Any advice on how long to wait before calling? Oh, and the ‘Where’s my Stimulus Check?’ function at irs.gov has no answers for me: “No info available”, so…
Any knowledge you can lend is appreciated!
August 5th, 2008 at 5:47 am
acw, normally the stimulus should be mailed around 2 weeks after your original refund is released. The “where’s my stimulus” feature on the IRS website is only activated on Monday before the Friday the check is mailed, check every Monday.
What a crock of shit. I am still waiting for my stimulus payent that should have arrived May 2, 2008 and here it is November 5, 2008. All have gotten so far is an, “I’m sorry” from the IRS which was most understanding of that particular agent, but the stimulus payment system is quite flawed indeed. I now have a new arrival due date, one of many. I give up. Ihope that you that won the stimulus payment lottery enjoyed it. Remember, others did not win.
March 3rd, 2009 at 7:50 am
To All: This post describes 2007, LAST YEARs Economic Stimulus Payment. This year’s Economic Stimulus Payment, 2008, is renamed Recovery Rebate.
If you put a number on the Recovery Rebate line, your 2008 tax return will delay processing.
1) IRS will have to make a correction, based on what you were sent last year.
2) Also, if you put any number on that line, you will get a false number for your refund.
3) You will get a CP12 notice, either way.
4) Put ZERO on the Recovery Rebate line. IRS can correct it in your favor, if you qualify for more this year.
March 13th, 2009 at 10:27 pm
im still waiting on my stimulus from last year…. what shoul i do in order to make sure i get all the money i should be receiving?
March 16th, 2009 at 8:31 pm
confused, you may not have qualified last year, did you get you original refund from last year? Why haven’t you called IRS to find out? If you read any of these comments, you would know the answer. You must file your 2008 tax return if you think you qualify this year. 2007 Economic Stimulus is over, 2008 calls it Recovery Rebate. You are on the wrong post … see the top of this page.
May 7th, 2009 at 8:32 pm
Roselyn, this post, you are reading is about last years US Treasury, IRS payment. My disclaimer is at the top of this page. “This post is about the 2007 Tax Return.”
The ONE TIME payment you are expecting is from Social Security, NOT from your 2008 tax return.
The Recovery Rebate line on your 2008 tax return is about any leftovers remaining from last years Economic Stimulus Payment. My post on the Recovery Rebate is at Economic Stimulus 2008; Beware of Promised Fast Refunds
