Secret Service Takes The Fall – Cheney Not To Be Inconvenienced

Denver lawyer seeks to depose Cheney in assault case

2006 incident involving Cheney leads to internal strife in Secret Service

DENVER: The arrest of a man named Steven Howards in June 2006 after he approached Vice President Dick Cheney at a Colorado ski resort and denounced the war in Iraq might have seemed, at the time, no more than a blip on the vice president’s schedule.

But now the blip has become a blowup, with Secret Service agents — under oath in court depositions — accusing one another of unethical and perhaps even illegal conduct in the handling of Howards’s arrest and the official accounting of it.

The revelations arise from a lawsuit Howards filed against five Secret Service agents, accusing them of civil rights and free-speech violations. They offer a rare glimpse into the inner workings of the Secret Service, which usually wears the standoffish, plainclothes cool of its mission like a cloak of invisibility.

The agent who made the arrest, Virgil Reichle Jr., said in a deposition that he was left hanging with an untenable arrest because two agents assigned to the vice president had at first agreed with a Denver agent that there had been assault on Cheney by Howards, then changed their stories to say that no assault had occurred.

Cheney has not been deposed, and his involvement in the arrest remains uncertain. But one of the three agents assigned to him, Daniel McLaughlin, said in his deposition that Reichle’s description was backward.

McLaughlin said Reichle, who has since been transferred to Guam, asked him in a call several hours after the encounter to say that there had been an assault to bolster justification for the arrest.

Man sues over Cheney confrontation

David Lane, lawyer for Steven Howards, said he plans to file a motion in federal court in Washington, D.C., next week to question Cheney under oath. Attorneys for the vice president have refused repeated requests for a deposition, he said.

The man cannot be inconvenienced? Or, does this man think it is beneath him to address a shameful event that he probably ordered. Cheney is letting his own Secret Service protectors take the fall and face possible felony charges for a manufactured incident. He ‘who is above it all’ has pushed common decency over the edge. The one person who has really played the world to his own advantage and redefined civilization has struck again. Master of the Universe, Cheney, is indeed an historical figure that will leave a bad taste in the annals of history along with famous maniacal politicians throughout the ages. Allow me to refrain from numbering these “evil doers”.

Annoyed at the mere request of a prosecutor, Cheney cannot be bothered with law or the constitutional responsibilities he swore to uphold. Cheney has done it all … because he is above it all. Not satisfied to be a mere human or citizen of a nation of laws, this person has corrupted a whole nation. America has fallen into the ranks of corruption because of an administration with tunnel vision. One goal at the expense of everything and everybody else. Oil and Empire. Empires are ruled by Emperors who are accountable only to themselves.

America is not an Empire! It is a Nation of laws! The United States Constitution says so!

And lets not forget David Addington , Cheney’s attorney , he surely had more then a little bit to do with gathering up John Yoo , a shameful disgrace to Berkeley as he is the head of their law school, in Crafting the twisted perverted piece of legalize called “the Unitary Excutive” theory..an attempt at codifying a dictator and tyrannt in any language. And completely flipping off our cherished checks , balances and branches of Government. Indeed the history books have a special place saved for this bastard , who would be king by proxy.
