The Media Ignores Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul … OpEd
Is their message too logical? Does the idea of busting the K Street gangsters scare corporations? These two are images of Elliot Ness stalking the gangsters. Focused, unwavering and serious about what they are about. They are about the Constitution and human dignity. They are about equitable treatment of individuals and countries. They are about saving the sustainability of the planet. After all, we all live on it. They are both about a healthy America is a strong America. We all must stay healthy to meet the challenge of Global Changes. They are about the next generation of humans on this planet. Honesty and accountability must be reinstated. They are focused on this issue. The Media is NOT! The Democrats, Republicans and Libertarians are scared … they will not acknowledge the existence of this phenomenon.

I am really looking forward to amplyfying the platform of Ron Paul. I find it remarkable truly !
He would end the drug war
End the Iraqi war
REPEAL THE PATRIOT ACT + the REAL ID ACT.
and restore us in many ways to our original freedoms and THE CONSTITUTION. I saw when i looked at his website after the incrediable amount of money he raised over night.
He would get us out of the WTO and repeal NAFTA and CAFTA. and is the ONLY one talking about the whole One Untied Northern Continent thingie and the super highway planned to go through the usa from Mexico to Canada. He does believe in secure borders.
Plus he is onto the federal reserve. I mean really i have to get over the knee jerk fear and misinformation about the libertarian albatrosses..ie. are they totally selfish, ie YOYO economics and are they whtie supremists like the john brichers..i am way behind. BUT somehow i do not think Ron Paul is one of these type of people
He seems like the statesmen we who are outraged over constitutional over reaches are crying out for. All our civil rights are found there in it.
He is a doctor. I do believe he would never limit a womans safe access to pregnancy termination.
Also He would get the seperation of Church and State back in motion. This could translate into the cancellation of government money funding Faith based organizations. That would be logical. Now my “notions” of liberatarians are skewed and lacking of true knowledge but I am sure this guy is in favor of good public schools and health care as a right NOT a priviledge.
Further it would seem to me that - he would put individual human rights over corporations rights. While making sure some of the jobs only the federal government can do are done.
all and all i want to explore this man and his platform because he sounds an awful lot like Kucinich. Its all about the direction of the country to me. We must get back on track. I wonder i really do what a race between he and hillary would look like. I wonder that since compromise is always necessary , there are NO perfect candidates. IF we progressives may not be missing something here..in not paying ron paul more attention. He could stop the insanity
No wonder the Media and the two party power elite are ignoring him - just like Dennis , they both make so much sense , and would totally disrupt the corrupt two party system…I hope you guys will be posting more MUCH more on RON PAUL.

oh and by the way great post BK - lets get this conversation going. I want to vote for sanity i do not care what label it has. labels , parties , boxes, knee jerk reactions…the power that be count on us to fight these stupid battle with eachother, while We the people are getting fleeced and left more and more out of the process. Lets talk about the ideas , lets listen. with an open mind. Thats what i want to do at least. Hell i was a registered Green until a few weeks ago. The typical dems and thugs..are not my cup of tea at all.
Now you guys are there Texas so i assume you know way more about Paul’s history than i do. as i say - glad you brought it up - lets talk about this guy. Imagine a Paul/Kucinich ticket ??? talk about out of the box , compromise. Now that would be beyond a dream. True Patriots , thinking patriots would be extatatic. At least this one would be. The funny thing is, is that these two, I believe they are such reasonable men they acutally could compromise and come together. Wacky wacky world. AS Barack Obama said “the status quo just will not do”

Dennis Kucinich has said that he will cancel NAFTA and withdrawal from the WTO his first week in office.
I remember reading that Ron Paul is “pro-Life”. You may want to check that. Also, Ron Paul is a Republican. You may want to check on his views regarding corporations, as well.
Dennis Kucinich upholds the Constitution. And, therefore, plans to cancel the Patriot Act. Also, Dennis Kucinich advocates single-payer health care, and has co-authored H.R. 676 to bring about single-payer, universal healthcare in the United States.
Last Tuesday, Dennis Kucinich brought to the floor a resolution to bring articles of Impeachment upon Vice president Cheney. Rep. Stony Hoyer asked for a motion to table (kill) the resolution. But, two votes were taken, one to table and one to send the resolution to the Judiciary Committee. The resolution is now inthe Judiciary Committee, waiting for the voters of America to email the committee members, asking them to pass the resolution.
Dennis Kucinich has a plan (H.R. 1234) to end the occupation in Iraq, close the military bases, bring the troops and equipment home, bring the contractors home, turn the contraction work and oil over to the iraqi government, convene a peacekeeping force to move in as U.S. troops leave, make reparations, etc.

Ron Paul is Pro-Life, but believes it should be left to the states to decide.
As for being a Republican, yes he is but he doesn’t take a dime from corporations or lobbyists and they want nothing to do with him because he can’t be bought.
He also forgoes his congressional pension. He (like Kucinich) puts great stock in the constitution, though they differ on the role of government on some things (universal government sponsored health care for one).
He is a Republican of old. Small government, less taxation and what happens behind closed doors (where no other is hurt) is none of the government’s business.
I would love to see a Paul/Kucinich ticket. The States would be better for it.

It is not surprising that Paul and Kucinich are good friends. Being a long-time Paul supporter and a libertarian (philosophy, not political party), I do not know much about Kucinich. However, it is my understanding that they are both consistently principled individuals, even if they do not always agree on what would be the most effective solutions to our country’s domestic problems.

Paul and Kucinich represent the fringe of both parties. They agree on one issue and one issue only, the war. Other than that they are probably on opposite sides of every debate.
November 13th, 2007 at 7:14 am
Ron Paul is a homphobic lunatic. As far as I’m concerned, the media is doing everyone in the LGBT community a huge favor by ignoring him. It’s insane to see liberals and progressives send him donations.
Dennis Kucinich, however is a different story. It’s a shame that his campaign hasn’t taken off. But as I’ve said for months and months now, the “fix” for Hillary Clinton is in, and I knew it when Wall Street got behind her.
AIPAC’s queen is the darling of Richard Melon Sciafe and yes, even Rupert Murdock. Unless she shoots herself in the foot again like she did in Philadelphia at the Oct. 30th, 2007 debate over drivers licenses for illegals (an issue 72% of people oppose), she’s going to be the Democratic nominee.

Christopher:
Ron Paul has his faults, but I find it interesting that with all the funds he has raised and the grassroots attention that he has, that the MSM is more focused on Romney cash which is 90% out of his personal bank account. Also, Paul’s message on th constitution and anti- Patriot Act are some of the items his supporters seem to be interested in. Which I think are his driving forces.
Kucinich, I wish he has a better shot but again the MSM are focused on their Wall Street/Fox darling Hillary, that Kucinich is barley a blip on their radar. Kucinich has so much to offer and yet he can’t get off the ground. Sad.
You are 100% correct that the fix is in on Hillary getting the nomination. I wonder if the primaries showed Hillary in 2nd or 3rd place, if the DNC would still pick her for the nomination. Instead of let’s say Kicinich or Edwards getting the full primary vote. I’m all for everyone voting for someone in the primaries because it would mean one less vote for Clinton.
I think the RNC is up to the same crap. Ron Paul could steal this away Rudy or Mitt, would the RNC give it to Paul. I doubt it.
There is so much corruption in both parties at both levels.

FenceWalker:
A Kucinich/Paul ticket would set our corrupt establishment into shock. Which is probably what this country needs to break the cycle of K Street and Wall Street buying the White House.
A national voter revolt how refreshing.

John:
They are fringe if you are on the far right or democratic center. They agree on more than the war. They are both anti-Patriot Act, federal ID, restoring the constitution, restoring habeas corpse they both believe in individual rights and dignity.
Until we restore the principles and founding documents of this country nothing else will put us back on the right track.

Thanks for the link. I had no idea that they are friends.
I lived in Ron Paul’s district for many years and I will say I didn’t suffer because of it. When I lived there the district was a good mix of both parties and Paul was consistently sent back to Washington. I may not have agreed with every vote he made but he did seem to take a balanced approach to his votes, with his district in mind and not the party line. I can live with that.

Debra:
Kuchinich has all the correct ideas but for the life of me I don’t understand why he is not connecting like Ron Paul is.
Maybe the Kucinich grassroots needs to contribute harder and shout louder. After all his is stuck in the field with (s)Hillary.
November 13th, 2007 at 11:14 am
ProudP:
You are correct about party labels. We have managed to make this country unmanageable because of party affiliation and corruption. Maybe it’s time that the voters revolt and get someone in the White House that is principled on the founding documents and restoring Americas economic and industry. Instead of the rich get rich the middle class becomes more invisible and the dollar/economic continue to decline. It’s time we the voters shake up the establishment.
While I’m an Edwards supporter there are still candidates that need to get serious attention. After all this election is not about me, its about us. Our future is a stake and we need to shake up the establishment.

Because of this marginalization, I have written MSNBC and Chris Matthews that I have deleted their website from my favorites list and I have deleted their channel from my cable tv. I would like to see a Paul/ Kucinich ticket or vice versa. There is the left and the right one a linear scale and then thereare these guys who leave the scale to form a pyramid peak above the scale. They are both against the Iraq war, they are both against the war on drugs, and they are both for respecting the Constitution. That is enough for me!
November 13th, 2007 at 12:16 pm
Thank you everybody, This is what I need. A serious, responsible discussion of where the real issues are. Paul & Kucinich are focused on the core of America’s problems. Yes, Paul has contributer baggage. However, as pointed out in several discussions I have researched, America is free to contribute legally, no matter who you are. Do not assume Paul will be obliged to some of his questionable contributers. Hillary had to subtract “illegal” contributions, but, so far, Paul’s contributions are not found to be illegal. I am not a “protectionist” by nature, but the past few years I must admit, America needs protection. Our resources have been squandered and our pantry will become bare too soon. Our protectors are all deployed. If another disaster hits America, our resources are too thin to do a good job … as we have already witnessed. George will see to it that another disaster will hit to justify expanding his war. I really believe that Paul, Kucinich, and maybe Edwards could prevent exacerbating our situation. I would not want to put Al Gore in the position of inheriting this catastrophe, he’s on a roll and will be consulting our next leader anyway. Why ruin his life again?
November 13th, 2007 at 9:27 pm
The only reason i would consider Ron Paul is because of our system of checks and balances. He would not be king. With a democratic congress, a real majority in both houses. His troubling positisons anti choice etc would be ameliorated. He is not an exploitor - I looked at his voting record - its troubling in many parts..But once the Patriot is repealed. And the termites are out of the congress. Stuff like the DEA and its heavy foot as of late on states that do have medical or decrimilized marijauna would be ceased..as a states rights issue. All i really want is not to be considered a suspect as the patriot does to us all. Honestly Kucinich is my guy. Edwards my second favorite ..its just remarkable though that so many across party lines - Just want our country back. Want our Constitution back. Want this WAR ended. Its all so damn rigged. Thats the pity. Its not over yet - and its good to have an open mind, i tend to knee jerk react a lot. Things are so dyer however. ..i have to look at what is going down. All we really want is to have WE the people once again involved in the political process. Yes we need some real federal protections, and federal services. One has to know it will be a cold day in hell for example before US national Parks and lands would be sold off to private owners..at least one would hope so ?! Regardless - two very very long shots. I too will do damage control in the primaries and mine are not till june. Sooo , if its only a symbolic vote - it will be for Kucinich. If it looks like the vote could stop Hillary - it will be for Edwards. The Man i really want is DENNIS. The man with much of his platform shared is Paul. I would hope Edwards and/or Obama would restore our Constitution. Repeal the Patriot Act. But won’t hold me breath there. Hell yeah BK we need protections, from our own government. i mean whose side are they on anyhow ?
November 14th, 2007 at 7:15 am
I will vote for no one other than Dennis, not for Edwards who pleads for rights and dignity of people, but overlooks more than half of this nation’s citizens, women and children.
We rank about last in women’s rights of developed nations and 13,000,000 children go to bed hungry. Almost all of those children live with single mothers receiving no child support from their fathers.
Almost all the Democrats have betrayed women, after years of lip service and betrayed our most vulmerable, children. Only Dennis Kucinich talks the talk and walks the walk.
Asking women who are raising one man’s family to help raise some other mans’ family who entered our country, used false documents and someone’s SS# who may be working beside one of those single mothers receiving no child support with higher wages and a better chance of moving into a higher position is UNREASONABLE!
Ray wants the states to decide what women do with their body. We demand warrants before intrusion into an owner’s car, garage, public storage or home. What is the only thing a person owns, when entering this world and throughout fires, floods, and a lifetime than their body?
Does Ray demand that a male receive permission for sterilization, or any reproductive descision? Will people, as in Florida. where Jeb Bush kept a brain dead woman alive and rolled around on a bed and turned by nurses every few hours, be required by a giovernemment, state oir federal, permission to be allowed to die?
Men and women politicians and general citizens must realize I do not belong to a government, especailly, one that taxes me equally, demands I obey laws on highways and elsewhere equally, but treats me unequally even giving prefference to a foreigner intruding into our citizens lives, illegally by entering our country. That is misplaced compassion. The foreigner that is illegal isn’t treating me with compassion, either. Demand of males, even foreign males, prefference before our nation’s women and children is being less than a man and for our nation’s women to go along with it is SEXISM! DENNIS KUCINICH KNOWS THIS.
A GOVERNMENT IS OF THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE. IR WAS FORMED TO SERVE ITS PEOPLE’S NEEDS, NOT THE NEEDS OF OTHERS.
(Not a single mother, but not misplacing compassion. Our most voiceless need us, children, for nutrition, healthcare, being drug free, gang free, educated, and loved. LIP BALM DOESN’T DO IT!)
November 14th, 2007 at 12:52 pm
Me too I will vote for no one but Kucinich and then if necessary Edwards.
I did some more education …for myself on another blog. Found out more about Paul and what his constituents would likely do. He has not returned Neo Nazi money..he is a red herring for sure. Its a mess, that radical platform..but in the fine print. The agenda is nativist, and dangerous , Christopher is right, he is a homophobe. Others are right…Women would be in great jepordy. I swear sometimes i really get all confused. The two party system . The not so subtle fascism we are living under..makes a person desparate and vulnerable to exploitation. There are also groups out there such as the CUIP who work to get independents on the ballot who are completely shiftless and exploit both parties. I swear. Its good to expose and explore the candidates but there is a reason Paul is fringe..and a good reason why he of all people should stay there. DENNIS ON THE OTHER HAND - may be about to fall in with some exploitive groups, his people like me are too damn uninformed and naive. Nader too made the same mistakes. working with exploitive types , jeeze..what a system and all this going on with the MSM giving us nothing..i mean a person really has to dig deep or HOPE that someone takes the time to educate them on a blog…I came to this after reading a thread at a small blog called godlessliberalhomo - thankfully some one took the time to publish a lot of article in full - in response to another poster from the CUIP - wow ! No Ron Paul is not the guy for me. NO NO NO. This is the stuff that happens when someone has an open mind. You gotta watch out - as PT BARNUM said there is a sucker born everyday.

this on Ron Paul from a right wing site..yeah its very very important to dig deeply , things are never as they seem on the surface - apparently too Huffpo has been following this seedy underbelly of some of Ron Pauls supporters. Count me OUT !
November 14th, 2007 at 5:41 pm
Well, if we are to judge the candidates by their supporters then I think they all should be taken out of the running. Paul has stated in very clear terms that if folks with an agenda that doesn’t reflect his donates to his campaign, that is their problem. Everybody should have the right to donate to the candidate of their choice. If Nazis or whomever want to “waste” their money on Paul, so be it.
I don’t quite get the homophobe comments, but from my research most of these declarations come from folks misunderstanding when Paul says the federal government should not be involved (gay marriage, abortion, etc), not his personal views on the subjects.
Personally he is pro-life but his stance is it should be left up to the states, for instance. He is for limited federal involvement, to a fault.
November 14th, 2007 at 6:10 pm
Fencewalker:
I feel it is important for everyone to learn and know as much about all the candidates as possible. Which is the concept of my blog.
As a firm believer of the Constitution and freedom for all, I can not be offended that Neo-Nazis or the KKK contribute to anyone. While I do not condone their behavior or agree with their beliefs, I believe that everyone has the right to vote, voice their opinion and contributor to whom they want. I am actually offended that candidates take money from lobbyist and Wall Street to have their future legislation passed. I find that more offensive than freedom of speech and thought.
With that said I can also understand some people have huge issues with this on a humanitarian level. For some Ron Paul then becomes a villain by association.
As we learn and explore all the candidates through open discussion the light bulbs go off for all of us on different levels and decisions are made.

I agree completely with you. I am fairly new to blogs, I’ve been reading them for a few months but this is the first I have ever actually contributed to (albeit via comments only).
The internet in my opinion is leveling the playing field when it comes to grassroots involvement and basic research being done on whatever the topic of choice happens to be. While we have to look at everything being said with a jaundiced eye (or to verify independently, as old time reporters used to do), the sheer amount of information available to us makes for a more informed citizenry.
In other words, it’s a good thing you bloggers are doing and I thank you.
