John Edwards On The Rise

It appears John Edwards is gaining more attention and support as the candidates approach the Iowa caucus. In a recent Time Magazine article, Edwards financial and voter support surged after the last debate. Voters and caucus goers are engaged and listening to every word Edwards is saying. With each speech Edwards gives it becomes very clear that he is the candidate that can take America in the direction we are screaming for.

  • Edwards’ campaign has seen a surge of online support of late, often a barometer of how well any candidate is doing. They’ve raised $500,000 in the last two weeks over the Internet, $200,000 of it the day after the Philadelphia debate, at which Edwards was by most accounts the clear winner. Even more importantly, the campaign says 40% of recent donors were new to the campaign. The cash infusion comes on the heels of a series of important union endorsements for Edwards, who trails in overall fundraising behind both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama by more than $50 million. Edwards has won support from seven Iowa unions — a huge boon to the campaign because it effectively shuts out Obama from bringing in any outside organized labor support. Obama has no Iowa union endorsements; Hillary leads the field with eight.
  • Edwards is certainly moving to capitalize on his current buzz. He’s launched his first 60-second commercial in Iowa, entitled “Heroes,” and is embarking on a five-day bus tour centered on the same theme — average Americans who work and struggle to provide for their families. “If you’re looking for heroes, don’t look at me. Don’t look at Elizabeth. We have support. Look to them. They’re the ones we speak for. They are the ones we stand up for,” Edwards says in the spot, which features images of “hardworking local Iowans.”
  • Edwards “has been drawing very clear contrasts and defining the choice that voters face in the campaign, but it’s crystallized in the last few weeks,” says Mark Kornblau, senior communications adviser to Edwards. “He’s been doing so more forcefully than anybody on either side of the race. Still, delivering the message took a cumulative effect to where people are paying attention.”

Lets hope so , at least he could clear some brush, so to speak, and make room for the Rule of Law and the Hague to get into the Act. He must revisit the Patriot Act. I hope these are some of the issues he ampliphys as well as the notion. We tear up the Bremmer Iraqi constitution or better yet LET THEM. and GIVE IRAQ BACK TO THE IRAQI’s and their “earl” too. Texas tea. Black Gold.

I hope he keeps throwing uppper cuts, this is politics. and got make some room at least for CHANGE , clear that bush crap scare the pants off you 911 panic crap , off our constitution. Get some real lawyers(non partisian) in the Dept of Justice. Balance the Supreme Court. And make sure our Bill of Rights is taken out of the trash and the Police State is reeled in , legally, there is a lot that needs to be undone in that Patriot Act. It must be addressed.

Edwards seems reasonable and comes across as a reasonable man. He listens. He can admit mistakes and reflect.

No he may not have eaten dirt every tuesdany night ( yes his father was management at the Mill) but he has devoted his studies to Poverty and the Law. The Country is simply not ready for the needed abrupt U turn this empire needs..in regaining its Constitution as Kucinich would “try” to do. so ….who is coming up to the beginning of the turn back to “a government by and for the people” vs. the corporations ..it looks like Edwards. He will help find our missing class , the working poor. One for sure. He will not strike Iran. If he ever even thought of it – if its on the table …that will be a deal breaker. Just gotta say , i believe Hillary would do it in a New York Minute. (that is not hillary bashing – its my gut feeling , based on the evidence.

so yeah , yay John. And he did raise some money…and he gonna need more..regularly cause he is publically financed..thankfully Trail Attorneys (the fighters) are giving him donations to be matched…i hear the Lobster Fisher might pass the Hat too. !!!! Next thing you know the carpenters union might pitch in – oh some of them already have…and Andy Sterns SEIU , which gives each state autonomy to chose vs. Afsme and their polls……

    Well Said.

I am glad you brought up the trial lawyers. Everyone is always very fast to bash contributions from the trial lawyers association, however taking money from them or getting an endorsement from them is the same support as unions. Through the BS of the GOP, the public has come to believe that this is a group of evil people. Well have the ever stopped to think where the money comes from for the GOP attorneys running for office?

It is far better then taking money from coporation, the weapons industry, wall street or Mr. Murdoch.

On a side note, to point out the ignorance of the general public towards attorneys, members of the trial lawyers association are the attorney that the general public hires when they need a lawyer. Lawyers who are not members of the trial lawyers association work for corporations and the like. Yes, its that simple.
