House Fails To Override SCHIPS Veto
House fails to override Bush’s veto on SCHIPS 273-155. The vote fell short of the two thirds majority needed for an override. Two Democrats voted No. Who are these two democrats who have denied children health care? It was disgusting that when the votes were announced and the bill failed the Republicans cheered.

This is outrageous. Vote with the party, or get the FUCK out! There’s no room for disagreement on issues like this!

Phil:
I am sure one of the two democrats was Kucinich since he voted against the first bill but I’m on the hunt for the other democrat. Would it have really killed them to vote for the veto? I hope the two democrats loose their seats in 2008.

Thank God they couldn’t override this veto. We already have a program that provides health care to the poor children of this country (Medicade), and in addition, there are many great charitable organizations that people can give to if they so choose that provides even more money to the children in need of health care without taking more taxpayer money.
Bush wants to get a bill to pass (one that adds more children to the current plan), but not one providing health care to all “children” expanded to 25 years old and under who are within household income up to $80,000, including illegals. My household income is right at the top end of that range, and I’m living comfortably and can provide health care for my child without taking more taxpayers money and moving closer towards socialism. That bill that was vetoed by Bush was completely insane…keep it real.
Hopefully they can get back to the drawing board and pass a bill that provides the necessary coverage to CHILDREN (not up to 25 years old) who are IN NEED, and keep it to that.

yeah, you do know about all the pork attached? It was meant to give Bush a black eye, for there was absolutely no way the government could have supported such a plan. Not only did it want to raise the eligibility, but it wanted to include all members of the family, which would end up being 100 million people, 1/3 of our nation. The cost ranges any where from 240 billion dollars (best case scenario) to 2.4 trillion dollars (worst case scenario). There is absolutely no way the government could have supported that. The Democrats knew that, but they left out the details to make Bush look bad.
The bill that is in place now already meets the children who are truly in need. The rest can be supported by their family, who tend to get health insurance from work, or other such ways.
You have to look deeper than the cover to get the real story.
