Well I guess I'm just going to boil this down to one thought:
Republicans = family values = ignore the children.

BS on their myopic rhetoric.

Just one more thing...what is true. The poor are the most generous..you watch. When Captain Bunny pants and the war mongers plunge us into economic chaos. Those who know how to get by on less, you will find I garentee it are the FIRST ONES to give and share what little they have. They have had so little to protect. They have experienced the humiliating need for the kindness of strangers..and guess what...it makes them KIND. We americans are so disgusting to eachother..so hateful, cruel, greedy..it makes me fuckin sick !!!

Oh good grief. Anyone who has had the opportunity to access these so called government hand outs..knows a few things. It is not lucrative..it is barely enough to get by and the level of intrusiveness is beyond demeaning. Our system pits person against person , while the most elite benefit. Good grief. Its this administration that has pushed abstinance only programs - hence more pregnancies, more need for safe accessible pregnancy termination..Don't you see what they are doing ? Any ONE of us..no matter what you have in the bank or stock market may need a meal ...you wait and see. All you who put down the poor. You may walk a mile in their shoes someday..it could happen to you. Agreed there are a sm. minority of those who might exploit the paltry system we have to care for the needy..But studies have shown that the Reagan's cadillac driving welfare queen is a myth..A MYTH.

People open your hearts. Open your minds, connect the dots..do you think you are better than anyone else because of your bank balance.

And NO people do not expect hand outs..once they get them I call BS ! Listen to our nimrod president..he thinks working 3 jobs is just great. What they fail to say is that most of these jobs carry NO BENEFITS. The cost of food is rising...Does it bother you so much that children might get their meals at school ? If it does i suggest your heart is shiveled like a peach pit..and your selfishness shallowness and inability to see what the elite are doing to pit us against each other is severely impaired. If it weren't for capitalism run amok the planet is an abundant place. TOO MUCH LOVE AND KINDNESS IS NEVER A BAD THING. People are basically good . There is no original sin, people like to create , produce , feel effective.

sorry to go on and on...but please realize no one chooses poverty for the fun and profit..jeebus !

Caren:
The expansion is for the working poor. I would not consider working middle class families slackers. It amazes me how so many in the republican party are against this since Bush campaigned in 2004, on the expansion of the SCHIPS program to include more children. This has absolutely nothing to do with welfare.

It's shocking that Bush has been signing executive orders for states to increase their program as recent as February 2007, and then he publicaly denounces what he has asked for and signing.

Typical bait and switch by Bush. We saw it here in Texas and Texas children suffered for it in great numbers.

I believe in giving a handout to those who find themselves in need; however, once someone gets something free - they tend to expect it. Whatever happened to having only as many children as one can afford? In my state, we are raising everyone's children...from their birthing costs to preschool, school breakfasts and lunches, health care, grants for college - all gratis! There is definitely a large contingent who realize the incentive to staying poor, having large unsupportable families and staying on the government tit versus those families who have fallen on hard times that a bill like this covers. I only support it for those who need it as a stop gap-not live off of it as they do other government programs. Trust me, these slackards know how to use them and I am tired of it.

Bush will veto it the GOP will be proud of themselves and the children will suffer. If any of these pricks didn't have insurance to take their kid to the doctor or hospital they would make sure that the government provided sometig.

It seems really arrogant to me that Bush and the GOP are so against this, we pay for their over bloated salaries and full health coverage for them and their families. I say we make the politicians pay for their own insurance and let them join the ranks of all Americans.
