Who Is Responsibile To Texas Veterans: Doggett or Cornyn
Actual responses from Cornyn & Doggett:
Dear (BossKitty),
If you need immediate assistance regarding an urgent problem you are experiencing with the federal government, visit the “Help With Federal Agencies” section of the website for details on how to proceed so that your difficulties are brought to my attention as soon as possible.
U.S. Senator John Cornyn
Dear (BossKitty):
Please accept my condolences on the tragic loss of your friend. Far too many veterans, who have done so much for our country, have suffered the same fate. In order to reduce the number of victims of post-traumatic stress-disorder (PTSD), my colleagues and I unanimously passed the Joshua Omvig Veterans Suicide Prevention Act. This bill creates a comprehensive program to fight the scourge of PTSD and its effects by funding research into treatments for PTSD and establishing psychological care programs for its sufferers. It also establishes 24-hour mental health care services for veterans, including a toll-free hotline, and a variety of other initiatives.
If his wife needs help with benefits, she should call my office directly at (#######). Please ask for nnnnn.
Sincerely,
Lloyd Doggett

Which one of these letters gives you more hope for action? Understand that, LLoyd Doggett is my own US District Representative and is attentive to a fellow Texan’s problem, even though she outside of his district, with the VA, a Federal Agency. I did not realize he responded right away, with an actual contact for my friend to call.
On the other hand, US Senator Cornyn, is responsible for the entire state of Texas. His office offered a website and said we will be contacted, indicating: “If you are seeking information or services from my offices that are NOT related to my Legislative duties, please visit my “Services For Texans” section for more information”.
I know this is ‘apples and oranges’. Doggett, a US Representative for Texas and Cornyn, a US Senator from Texas. Obviously, Cornyn thinks his duties are above mere Texas individuals. Obviously, my friend is not a high dollar contributor or corporate sponsor. How can THIS be part of his duties? Is the Armed Services Committee not associated o the VA. Cornyn has co-sponsered Veteran’s Benefits Acts that look good on paper and in sound bites, but have been empty promises so far.
Aeronautical and space activities peculiar to or primarily associated with the development of weapons systems or military operations; the common defense; the Department of Defense, the Department of the Army, the Department of the Navy, and the Department of the Air Force, generally; maintenance and operation of the Panama Canal, including administration, sanitation, and government of the Canal Zone; military research and development; national security aspects of nuclear energy; naval petroleum reserves, except those in Alaska; pay, promotion, retirement, and other benefits and privileges of members of the Armed Forces, including overseas education of civilian and military dependents; selective service system; and strategic and critical materials necessary for the common defense.
Comprehensive study and review of matters relating to the common defense policy of the
United States .
By the way, neither Texas Congressmen Ortiz or Reyes, could be contacted by email regarding this Texan’s Veteran issue. They are both on the House Armed Services Committee representing Texas and could not be contacted by email out of their repective districts.
Ortiz: “Your zip code indicates that you are outside of the 27th District of Texas. Regrettably, I am unable to reply to any email from constituents outside of the 27th District of Texas.”
Reyes: “Access to the requested form is denied, the zip code which you entered does not provide access to this form.”
Of course I have NOT heard from Kay Bailey Hutchinson yet. My efforts to contact those who represent me and my fellow Texan in crisis has been disappointing. The only bright light at the end of this sad journey is Lloyd Doggett. I have seen a glimpse of Doggett in action when he visited my workplace, I have never met a more compassionate man. I watched his eyes fill when he comforted a co-worker whose son was deployed for the third time to Iraq.

I never got anything but a form letter from Cornyn…an idiotic, GOP ass kisser! Fuck Cornyn!
Same thing from Culberson, who’s local office is staffed with trained chimps who felt cross-examined if you asked the time of day!
I support the right of dissent –but honestly! Who cloned these idiots, this party of seed pods from another planet?
