International Association of Fire Fighters Endorses Chris Dodd
It appears that there are many voters out there who are able to see beyond the bloated media hype of the first tier canadidates. Chis Dodd has been endorsed by the powerful International Association of Fire Fighters.
With any luck, as the public stands up and voices their support for non first tier candidates maybe the MSM will start doing their jobs correctly and cover all the candidates not just Clinton and Obama and the occasionally Edwards.
- “You are looking at a field of strong candidates we all have relationships with,” said Harold Schaitberger. “But we go to the core principles of who is the candidate that has truly earned our union support.
- “Chris Dodd earned it,” he said.
- Schaitberger said that not only has Dodd been voting for fire fighters he has been authoring bills.
- “He started back in 1976 writing bills for us in the Connecticut legislature,” said Schaitberger.
- The fire fighter endorsement is one of the most coveted because of their ability to organize and stand by their candidate even when the political waters are rough. In 2003 they were the most visible union sticking by Senator John Kerry when his support in polls were in the single digits and helped him recover to be the nominee.
- “Chris Dodd has been under the radar so far and this news could be the very thing that could allow him to pop up and for people to take a second look,” said Wayne Lesperance, a political science professor at New England College.

I’m sure Dodd deserves this endorsement, but I’m sorry to see it go to a candidate with no chance of being nominated.

It’s a very good point that the MSM only follows the front runners. They should give more coverage to other candidates, including third party and independent candidates. It would make for a better election.
“Chris Dodd has been under the radar so far and this news could be the very thing that could allow him to pop up and for people to take a second look,”
It could also be the kiss of death as it was for kerry. Dodd has a host of corporate skeletons in his closet. I don’t think he could survive a general election battle.

What cracks me up about the endorsement is Rudy was hoping to get it. He is after all the 9/11 candidate.
I also thought it was the kiss of death. At least Dodd will get some publicity out of it if nothing else.
