John Cornyn The Badge of Fiscal Irresponsibility

The hallmark of the wingnuts on the right is the melding of the ugliest tendencies of Pharisee and Mammon in an unholy political union primarily that worships political power and suffers greatly from a brittle sense of machismo. Alaprst1 over at Texas Kaos has caught the junior Senator in a flagrant display of all the worst attributes in Cornyn Drains Our Treasury While Preaching Fiscal Responsibility.
It’s well worth a full read, but my favorite paragraph is this one:
For anyone to say that John Cornyn has shown fiscal responsibility as a lawmaker is like saying that Al Capone was an advocate of law and order or that Bart Simpson is an expert on passing the fifth grade. Here’s the financial record of the Bush presidency that Cornyn and his fellow Republicans have rubber stamped:
- 2000 FED SURPLUS (note: during Bill Clinton’s presidency):
- $236.2 BILLION
- 2004 U.S. FEDERAL DEFICIT
- $412.1 BILLION PER YEAR
- U.S. FEDERAL DEBT
- JUN 27 2007 $8,919,046,678,032.00
- That’s $47,000 per adult in the u.s.
- That’s $94,000 per married couple
- That could be the ave increased tax burden over years
- 209,279,149 U.S. adults by 2000 Census
Ouch. Now that’s gonna leave a mark. Good thing the Senator has such excellent health coverage.
