The attack in Waziristan, a Taliban stronghold where Washington says al-Qaeda is regrouping, was one of the most lethal suicide attacks in recent months.
The region along Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan has seen increased activity by both local militants, the Taliban, and — according to a recent U.S. assessment — al-Qaeda.
With Saturday’s suicide attack in North Waziristan, at least 53 people have been killed in bombings and shootings in the north since the Red Mosque crisis began July 3.
Musharraf and Bush - Can’t live without each other - Pakistan houses the necessary ‘enemy’ that Bush needs to justify his personal ‘War on Terror’. Taliban, AlQaeda and most likely Osama bin Laden are the keys to Bush’s megalomaniacal ‘World Takeover’. Pakistan is on the brink of it’s own Jihad. Musharraf has a fine line to walk trying to balance his own country’s needs to the payoffs gained by serving the Bush agenda. Pakistan must hold it’s own while pretending to seek out terrorists without actually defeating them. The cost to Pakistan is growing skepicism and anger and fear from Chinese corporate investment. The westernized Pakistanis are becoming more at risk as they become targets. Frustration abounds in both countries facing resistance to Theocratic takeovers by radical fundamentalists.
