Carter, Bush Is ‘the Worst in History’ In Foreign Relations

Bravo President Carter for going against protocol to call Bush what he is, a failure. President Ford made his negative feelings public about Bush but only after his death.  Presidents Clinton and Bush (41) have become such pals, that I don’t think Clinton would say anything disparaging.

Since Bush doesn’t read newspapers, listen to the news or really give a crap about what anyone has to say, I’m sure Carter’s words will never reach him. But then nothing does.

LITTLE ROCK, May 19 — Former president Jimmy Carter called President Bush’s international relations “the worst in history” and also took aim at Bush’s environmental policies and the administration’s “quite disturbing” faith-based initiative program.

“I think as far as the adverse impact on the nation around the world, this administration has been the worst in history,” Carter said. “The overt reversal of America’s basic values as expressed by previous administrations . . . has been the most disturbing to me.”

Carter said that Bush’s policy of preemptive war, “where we go to war with another nation militarily, even though our own security is not directly threatened,” was “a radical departure from all previous administration policies.”

These are strong words from Carter, who is a very religious person. But then Bush has a privilege that no other president has had, God speaks directly to the shrub. Or is that the burning bush?

Carter also offered a harsh assessment for the White House’s Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, which helps religious charities receive billions in federal grants. “As a traditional Baptist, I’ve always believed in separation of church and state and honored that premise when I was president, and so have all other presidents, I might say, except this one,” he said.

I’m sure Tony Snow or Dana Perino will dismiss Carter as a disgruntled past president.

Jimmy Carter a man who was a failure as President, criticizes another man who is a failure as President. Jimmy, you should stick to building houses.

Carter did have failures, but it will never be said that he was worse than Nixon,(Nixon however, understood foreign relations), only Bush can claim.

I remember Presidents going back to FDR. I have at least some respect for all of them Republican and Democrat with one exception.

GW Bush is not only a bad president but he is unqualified for almost any responsible position whatsoever without a staff of advisors to do ALL of his thinking for him and Karl Rove to hold his hand.

The one thing that he is capable of doing is managing an electoral campaign. He managed his father’s successful campaign in 1988 and ran 2 presidential campaign for himself. (In other words, he has some ability to BS a certain number of people.) As president -ZERO

Nixon was a good president but had some personality problems and was not loveable.

    Glad to see you again.

I agree with you on good presidents Republican or Democrats. Nixon was very good with opening China and other policies. My bad as Nixon remark was aimed at Watergate and the disgrace that he cause. However, Nixon’s disgrace pales in comparison to Bush.

Bush lack quality on all levels. Heck he could even find oil in Texas. He didn’t make any money on that deal until daddy’s friends bailed him out.

OK gasdoc, we are showing our age. This is really BossKitty. Looks like you are just a little older than me. I vaguely remember Truman, but I remember a lot about Eisenhower.
Bush was put into office to remind us that when Americans don’t pay attention, awful things can happen. This whole administration is a lesson. “If you ignore your rights, they will go away”. (don’t know who said that, but I love it)
