Texas Democratic Party Asleep At The Wheel
This behavior of the TDP continually ignoring democratic candidates on the state and national level makes me wonder why the hell Texas even has a Democratic Party headquarters. This goes right back to my previous post of “Why Is Texas Red???”
I will give the TDP credit for going after Cornyn and Hutchinson on their failure of Texas troops. Maybe they’re planning on focusing hard on Cornyn in the 2008 election, since they blew it with Hutchinson by not supporting a very viable democratic candidate in 2006. I can only hope. This still doesn’t excuse them from ignoring Obama. They have plenty of field reporters on staff. Doing what I don’t know.
So, here we sit, again watching the new chair of the TDP behave in the same lazy fashion as his predecessor. Picking and choosing what events are more important for photo ops. It would be interesting to see how the TDP acts if Hillary comes to town.
At this rate the second tier democratic candidates must really feel left out by the TDP. I am convinced that it will take all of us helping in whatever way we can, all of the democrats running. Candidates can not depend on the TDP since they are only consistent on failure.

I’m voting for Hillary because I have a daughter. I want to be able to tell her, “You can be anything you want to be when you grow up” and I want to be telling the truth. Voting for Hillary is one step closer to making that a reality.
February 11th, 2008 at 5:36 pm
Chelsea:
Those are admirable reason for you to vote for her however, I can not continue the 2 family dynasty of Bush/Clinton nor can I continue to participate with the old guard any longer.
February 11th, 2008 at 7:38 pm
I’m definately not a Texas Democratic asleep at the wheel. I’ve been working hard to spread the word for Hillary. Though she’s not new, she too wants change and unlike other candidates, has the know how to get it done. I’m one college student not jumping on a bandwagon but rather focusing on policies and experience to select the best candidate. Thanks
February 11th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
I, too, am a young democrat, and not asleep at the wheel. I am voting for Hillary. She is the most intelligent and experienced person running. It takes a strong and committed person, as she is, to take on the health care issues and the billions of dollars being spent by Bush’s government. We need the strongest candidate we can possibly get in office and she is the one. Encourage all democrats to get out and vote for Hillary.
February 11th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
She’s the one who can get it done, not just talk about it. I think Obama has the committment, but far from enough experience! I have already made a graphic of the White House painted pink!

NYtexan:
You mean to tell me that the only reason you are not voting for Hillary is cause you think the Clintons are a dynasty and you are willing to put the future of our Country in the hands of someone who knows nothing about running a country??? Please! That is the poorest excuse I’ve ever heard. Hillary will bring this country’s economy back where it needs to be and she will also get our healthcare back on track. She is the strongest candidate and not only does she have sexist men who are overlooking her qualifications, she also has women doing it as well…that is a crying shame! Our country is at stake and I would rather have someone with experience like Hillary, than a fresh new face (Obama) who gives a good speech but will not be able to back it up. I can give give a good speech too, but that doesn’t qualify me to run the White House.

This democrat and her family is not asleep on the wheel. We’ve done our research and ALL of us will be voting for Senator Clinton for President. Here are some of the reasons why:
OBAMA says he is for poor and middle class, but he KEEPS VOTING AND SIDING AGAINST THE POOR AND MIDDLE CLASS WORKER.
For example: (1). On nuclear energy he sided with corporate america and helped re-write legislation that would help the NUCLEAR GIANT – EXELON avoid reporting nuclear leaks. The previous legislation made it harder for Exelon, but Mr. Obama decided to re-write legislation which would benefit Exelon. By the way EXELON HAS CONTRIBUTED HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO MR. OBAMA’S CAMPAIGN. His actions on behalf of Exelon clearly shows that he would rather help corporate America than Americans. (2) OBAMA SIDED WITH CREDIT CARD COMPANIES and gave them the right to increase credit card rates to 30% or higher….there was no cap placed so they can charge american credit card holders what ever they want. Senators Clinton and Edwards voted against this bill. With the economy at it’s lowest, this is an additional financial burden the American people do not need. So on this issue he was clearly for corporate america and against the poor and middle class. (3) During his visits throughout the country, Mr. Obama has repeatedly talked about how he supports the union and even mentions the plight of Maytag workers in an effort to gain the Unions sympathy and support. However, what he doesn’t mention is that Tom Buffenbarger the president of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM)President of that same union has urged Mr. Obama to stop telling that story. Mr. Buffenbarger’s went as far as stating “”He didn’t lift a finger to help those people when they needed help the most,” This is the same candidate” (Mr. Obama) “who recently labeled unions as ’special interest’ groups with too much influence in Washington, D.C.,” “For the last eight years, we’ve defended our members’ jobs, pensions and health care benefits against a political agenda that’s been openly hostile to unions and working families. But a Johnny come lately candidate won’t solve the problem facing blue collar families.” So it seems that Mr. Obama is consistent and continues to side against the poor, middle class and America in general. There are several stories that follow this same theme, which makes it appear that Mr. Obama does not have America’s best interest at heart. The way I see it…he is just like every other politician….he manipulates situations and words to his best interest.. However, I would rate him at the bottom because of how he has tried to make america believe that he is for the american people…that he is for the poor and middle class, etc. Unfortunately his records doesn’t jive with the talk. . So if you want another BUSH disaster then vote for Obama, if you want the country to go forward …vote for Hillary!

Not voting for the “dynasty” reason is just silly. If there was any reason TO VOTE for Hill, its the fact that her beliefs are in line with her husband’s and we had so much prosperity during that “dynasty”. Voting for Hillary because the only person who can get the job done has to be moderate and knowledgeable and experienced. I am certain Obama would make a great VP but its her time now. GO HILL!
February 12th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
Some of my neighbors and family members favor Obama but not one of them has given me a legitimate reason why he should run our country. I look at this as a job interview and Obama’s resume is not impressive at all. Hillary has the most experience and could teach Obama a thing or two.
HILLARY FOR PRESIDENT
February 12th, 2008 at 5:25 pm
First let me say that this particular post you chose to promote Hillary on has nothing to do with Hillary as a candidate. At the time the post was written, one year ago, it deals with the failings of the Texas Demoicratic Party (TDP). Obama was mentionedd because he was the first to show up for a rally in Austin down the block from TDP. Also the TDP didn’t even have a list of announced candidates.
The statement:
“It would be interesting to see how the TDP acts if Hillary comes to town.”
referred to the TDP getting their act together.
February 12th, 2008 at 5:45 pm
There a several reason why I will not vote for Hillary Clinton:
1) She voted for the Iraq war with full documentation provided to all members of Congress and Hillary still refused to acknowledge that her vote was a mistake;
2) She voted for the Iranian Red Guard (Kyle.Lieberman) bill as a terrorist group based again on faulty information from the White House;
3) She continues to tell us about her First Lady experience and yet refused to turn over her documents;
4) Hillary’s Universal Health Car Plan; in her own words “will garnish wages for anyone who does not volunatarly participate;”
5) She is favored by both Wall Street and the Military complex who have both donated heavenly to her campaign;
6)Bill Clinton continually running over her campaign, I am not convinced that Bill will not taking over “her” White House.
Lets look at the general election:
1)In no primary so far, has Hillary has not been able to get heavy independent votes which is what is needed to deny McCain votes.
2)The GOP has been preparing for Hillary because she will energize their base to get out and vote. The anti Clinton vote.

Good heavens some people are getting bee’s in the bonnets !! like a swarming hive of those bees mighty creatures whose hive is jepordy..could it be the route that is coming you way.well calm down. Its not gonna be so bad..When Obama IS PRESIDENT. He will lift all boats and MAY EVER RETRIEVE OUR CONSTITUTION – he was a constitutional Law professor for 10 yrs..He could teach mrs Clinton a thing or two.. i am sure. He also understands that minority group rights cannot be thrown to the states..and that include the right to choose. He will be virture of integrity do all he can against the ODDs . Oh the 90’s
can you say TECH BUBBLE ! ? Can you say NAFTA and NEO LIBERAL POLICIES ..same beast neo libs and cons. Can you say triangulation ? ….ok ..Now stick with me here ONLY today Hillary said FOX news is more fair to her then MSNBC – at the risk of being a tad bitchy i gotta say some gals are acting as much a fool as some males i know and love – you all need to use your first HEAD – unless of course you are actually republicans ??? Hilary knows how do deal with em..(so she says..cause she is ONE ) Wake up gals please i am beggin you..Lets make history another way…IF you wanna get serious..i mean really freakin serious…white women do just freakin fine , in this culture. its taken awhile..but hell margaret thatcher is woman IT Didn’t make her right. If feminists have a problem HILARY is not the answer..OBAMA is as he will the poorest of the poor, the single mothers etc..so wake UP.
And lets not forget the cottege industry of clinton bashing gee 4 yrs of that sounds …well its enough to make me lorch I am still not over the last go round..and she will bring every cracker on the right to vote ..those who would have stayed home..and not vote for her either….
so read up ..Obama ain’t so bad !
February 12th, 2008 at 6:36 pm
oh and not to knock a mother’s love am one myself…but i would like every little boy or girl of color to know they can be anything they want.
No we mom’s are a fierce group – but lets not be so selfish. Lets go for the most numbers of children in our crippled rascist , dumbed down society – Clinton will do very little in the long run for women..How much has Thatcher or other female leaders done ? Right now , sorry but women’s rights are doing OK, compared to the INSTITUTIONALISED racsism in our culture..so gals please think …THINK !
I am beggin you FOR ALL THE CHILDREN …all of em ..not just our daughters.
February 12th, 2008 at 6:53 pm
None of these candidates are the progressive’s first choice. Neither are pure. Wouldn’t you rather as women see more people vote for the first time in their lives..then simply further one agenda ? Where is your altruism ..really. Obama is older then Kennedy and Roosevelt was at their time..Most of you , are young ? How young are you ? We in this country really do have ONE party its called the business party..so we could have dueling banjo’s here..about who is taking cretin corportate money. The clinton Machine ..would win on that one. I am old enough to remember a lot of real serious pretty talk on the part of the clintons..and is hill , bill ? its damn hard to tell em apart. They assume so much, its insulting..and isn’t lovely that their foundations donors nearly identically match the Bushes ? Dynasty is a old concept..you are YOUNG if you do not see the dangers of this ..for crying out loud we are already living in fascism..Hillary will not address our bill of RIghts , the Constitutionality of the Patriot Act. She was a republican corporate attorney, sat on Walmarts board for cryin out loud. This is not about GENDER…its not. Its about policies. Gettin things done..WHAT HAS SHE DONE ???? tell me one thing ? – launched a campaign on her Husband’s coattails ? WHAT ? She ain’t no Barbara Boxer thats for sure.. Gosh you gals are dissapointing to me. Its great to see your enthusiasm and love of your candidate…but please …Obama is highly qualified to take office, he does have the ability to UNIFY the country , and yes that involves playing with some creeps. No ONE is pure. Look at what the rest of the country is telling US, WE like HIM ! – look where he is winning , they are saying we want HIM.
I hope you all will come around, we need new leadership in this country not a party split. really..please thing about it.

NY Texan:
Your so good at listing reasons why your not voting for Hillary, let’s see the top ten reason why someone should vote for the antichrist Obama.
February 14th, 2008 at 3:09 pm
Lets get a grip. Either one of these candidates will represent the democratic party well. But Hillary Clinton has more exerience dealing with the extreme right extremists. Stop the Hillary bashing and lets do this right. This must remain a united party for the general election. Name calling and bashing will do no good for the general. I support Hillary Clinton because she is the most qualified to lead this nation out of the “bush depths” She is intellegent, strong, and can handle herself and this nation. Stop the bashing!!!
February 14th, 2008 at 4:17 pm
Stop saying and crying bashing , when u have been given a dozen reasons why a clinton nomination would be the most devisive thing to happen to the democratic party since the dixicrats..For the love of the goddess stop it. please. The people, the majority of the party and the independents DO NOT WANT ANOTHER clinton in the white house..can you not see that ? Its about policies and legacy NOT experience.. only We the people’s experience…we have had it with the clintons. So quit crying bashing…that is really hiding behind skirts if you ask me which u didn’t but still.
I want a constitutional law professor
a civil rights attorney
a young black male
a uniter who has diplomatic skills who appeals to independents.
I want NEW BLOOD, not a rehash of the past.
I want someone who will lift ALL BOATS of little kids.
I want someone who knows civil rights cannot be thrown to the states.
I want someone who knows what its like to be judged , prejudiced against JUST by virture of their outward appearance
I want someone who will enfranchise MORE VOTERS then ever before in our history
I want someone WHO CAN BEAT McPain
I want someone who plays by the rules and doesn’t cry foul when things do not go his way
I want someone who represents CHANGE, and will do his damnest to bring it about – with more then enough experience to realize the obsiticle ahead of him
OK ….that is OBAMA and apparently judging by his wins I am not alone in this feeling…
will you all please think about this…you want to see a democratic majority next yr ? …then listen to the grassroots. You want to see shades of 68 and a complete party break up..then keep going on and on like you are…
I have been here before…the clintons promised us everything..gave us NOTHING…welfare to workfare, among others..you know how that plays our for the single welfare mother…not to well, so if you care about poverty, if you care about education, IF YOU ARE MATERNAL enough to care about this country as a whole..vote your conscience..of course BUT think about it. And for the love of MARY – if this is bashing to you…people you have led very very sheltered priviledged lives….what more can i say…you keep up with those pink graphics..and you are gonna see pink elephants as in the GOP still in the WH come 09.
February 14th, 2008 at 4:38 pm
The only name calling i have seen in this thread are from the Hillary supporters..shame on YOU for that. And if one does belief in such a way ie the “antichrist” well that is your personal perogative..of course..and further more “he ” is sitting in the WH right now, if one wants to get technical..but throwing that pejoritive towards Barack Obama is beyond hyperbolic , immature, and frankly shameful..If you are of the christian faith, you have disgraced yourself with your hyperbolic words and slurs. So lets be clear , where the name calling is coming from..its not from those of us who support Barack Obama. We are trying to take the high road. Some of you folks are making it mighty hard and do nothing to support your case for hillary except buying into the
experience” she has with the right wing…and how did she come by that again…someone remind me please …? And how successful was she at that…someone remind me please…AND for the love of all that is good and true..this is NOT about her gender..This could be Bill’s brother, or Sister..it makes no difference THIS is about politics !!a general election, the will of this democratic party and the grassroots voters. NOT about HER as a WOMAN ! ok you got that ?

Proudprogressive:
What are you so proud about…you leave so many messages, maybe you need to get a life.
February 14th, 2008 at 9:39 pm
Saw Hillary yesterday in San An and loved every minute of it. I would like to add that no one is rehashing the past but those who are anti-hillary. I am seeing her for who she is and what she believes in. For the way i KNOW she can navigate and get stuff done. I want results. I want action. I want to hit the ground running and NOT rehash or discuss the past. Those who do are stuck in it and feel the only way to move forward is to put blinders on. Life is a bit more complex than that and I like to learn from history. I don’t recall the Clinton presidency being a mistake. MUCH to the contrary. Either vote is a move forward. They are both excellent candidates, but for my money, I’m hoping Hillary takes it.
I CANNOT ignore the fact that she’s a woman, however. I think that is the biggest change we could have and i’m positive it would do the country a world of good to join the modern world in electing a female leader.
I think Hillary is the sum of many things…not only the negative that people like to focus on. She is who she is, where she came from, where she’s been, all her mistakes, all she’s LEARNED from wrongs and rights, she is a woman and she is capable. She is possibility and history in the making.
Lets be honest…after what we’ve had, I could probably look pretty dang impressive, though, huh?
I’m advocating for Hillary however and spending my money and time backing her.
February 14th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
Destiny thank you for that excellent suggestion, i will contemplate it, and then think some more..perhaps i do need to get a life. It appears i am alive, but who knows..maybe this beating heart and thinking mind are but an illusion, like so much of this world. My pride is actually just basic self pride, surviving in this world, trying to give what i can where i can and focus on positive change, with a willingness to learn. I live to learn…does that constitute a life destiny…what do you think ? Caring for others, does that qualify. Trying not to be judgemental, and to work towards good vs. destruction. ..I don’t really know…communication is important, that i know, do you read my messages or just count them ?
February 14th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
Yankeegrrl amen sister, after what we have had, you would get my vote in a heartbeat. Its interesting what you say about the past. Your point is well taken. Its great to see people involved and passionate.
The grassroots are awakening..and passions do run very high. lets hope the votes get counted , the convention is not mayhem and that EVERYBODY plays by the rules..both candidates. The DNC and the darn super delegates. Its politics. There has been deep unrest in the democratic party for a long long time. There is deep well funded dissapointment in Pelosi.. There have been shocking “bush dog” democrats..One really cannot blame people for wanting somebody REALLY really new. – should Hillary be the candidate i do hope she delivers what her supporters are hoping for, honesty i do. Hey we are in this boat together, dispite our differences..WE have more in common in our hopes and dreams than divide us. Of that much i am sure. Destiny how many comments am i up to now are you keeping count ?
February 14th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
Yankee Grrl:
I also went to the rally here in San Antonio. It was the most surreal event I have ever gone too. There were so many people that I couldn’t even find the end of the line. Instead of turning people away, they sent the overflow to another building to hear what she had to say. I think San Antonio really showed up for her and gave her one of the biggest welcomes I have ever seen. We were also told that Hillary spent the entire day going door-to-door in the neighborhood speaking with people. What a gal!
GO HILLARY!
February 14th, 2008 at 10:08 pm
I feel the same proudprogressive and i’d LOOOOOOOVE them both on one ticket but that seems like it won’t happen to me.
Deb…MY BACK/feet were killing me
LOL Honestly it wasn’t as wonderful as i was expecting, but I’m not the person I was in 96 when i saw Bill at the alamo….THAT was like watching Elvis…high praise from a huge Elvis fan
I enjoyed it and it got me energized…mostly just seeing everyone come together. My youthful exuberance of yesteryear is gone. I’m no longer wowed and I’m so much more cynical than I was only 12 years ago. I’m also realistic and want RESULTS. I trust her in a way I don’t anyone else on the ballot. Maybe its a bit of the familiar, maybe its just that I ENJOYED the clinton years so much, but its so much more. I really know NEITHER candidate is the second coming, unlike some followers. I have realistic expectations and am hopeful for more beyond that.
I argued with a REPUBLICAN friend of mine earlier about Hillary. He’s so anti her it isn’t funny. He’s actually voting for Obama and thought i’d be extatic. I told him I knew he had it in him and expected him to see the light (democratic light, that is) at some point, otherwise I wouldn’t have kept around as a friend. I couldn’t do backflips because he had walked out of the haze he had been living in and was finally IN HIS RIGHT mind! lol
